About the Job
The BHIS System Analyst will provide a comprehensive approach in delivering excellence in data analytic support for all the Behavioral Health multidisciplinary service areas. Responsible for querying, analyzing, and disseminating reports. Types of reporting include patient volumes, utilization management, business surveys, quality initiatives, dashboard development, and ad hoc requests. Works with Behavioral Health administrative and medical staff, Planning and the Data Resource Center, Business Intelligence, Quality Improvement as well as external organizations to ensure the availability of timely and accurate information, upon which operational, strategic and programmatic decisions will be made.

Responsibilities:• Writes SQL code to obtain relevant data at patient level and develop dashboards to provide meaningful information for use in operational, strategic and programmatic decisions.
• Supports clinical staff data activities, including productivity/ benchmarking, professional activity, monthly reporting, and ad hoc data requests.
• Maintains knowledge of appropriate software and visualization tools including python/r/ STATA, SQL, and Power BI.
• Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into technical details and conceptualize technical details in a format that can be shared with stakeholders.
• Maintains strict adherence to all HIPAA rules and regulations regarding the confidentiality of patient information.
• Drives definition of scope and development methodology for information requests by gathering information from stakeholders. Once developed, queries required data and presents it to requesting client in user-friendly format.
• Participates in collaborative meetings with internal and external stakeholders to meet goals, objectives and responsibilities and actively participates and supports all Epic upgrades and or enhancements by providing data needed for implementation and ensuring build functions as anticipated.
Education:
• Bachelor’s or equivalent experience required.
• Possible fields of study include Statistics, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or other related field
Skills:
• Analytical skills to assemble, evaluate and understand large and complex information sets, and to identify current and future trends.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills to effectively interact with external contacts, administrator, medical staff and employees at all levels. Ability to communicate difficult or complex information.
• Ability to successfully engage in multiple project initiatives simultaneously and work independently under minimal supervision.
Experience:
• Minimum one-year proficiency in programming languages such as STATA/ R/Python, expertise in query languages like SQL, and experience with visualization tools such as Power BI and survey tools like RedCap.
• Familiarity with healthcare coding systems (including ICD, DSM, CPT, MSDRG, APRDRG, CRG) as well as experience using medical terminology.
• Experience with electronic health records, preferably EPIC.
