About the Job
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- 2 years of experience developing toolchain components (e.g., compilers, linkers, debuggers, system libraries), or programming in C/C++.
- 2 years of programming experience in Java.
- Experience with SQL and extracting and manipulating data from databases.
Preferred qualifications:
- 3 years of experience with AI/ML algorithms and tools (e.g., TensorFlow), deep learning, or natural language processing or other ML discipline.
- Experience with data warehousing.
- Experience with Full-Stack Development.
- Knowledge of Google technologies and infrastructure including networking, security, corporate systems and infrastructure, system administration and operations, and the software development lifecycle.

The BigQuery Migration Service migrates users to BigQuery by translating SQL from other SQL databases into BigQuery SQL using the industry's leading semantic compiler engine. We are extending the SQL engine with broader SQL coverage, integrating Google's latest AI LLM models, analysis and lineage of SQL workloads, optimizing Structured Query Language (SQL) rewrites for high-performance with the BigQuery engine, and improving the usability and automated migration capabilities of the service.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Work closely with customers and teams across Google migrating to BigQuery, and enable significant business impact through our close partnerships while improving the automation of the entire service.
- Integrate AI Large Language Models (LLMs) into the engine and service.
- Build and extend the SQL service and engine development.
- Analyze complex SQL problems and develop solutions including new engine improvements such as new semantic parsers, transformers, and emitters.
- Work closely with partner teams and customers to provide SQL expertise and extend the service.
