At Dreamruns we are passionate about getting outdoors whether it be in the snow or on two wheels. We are a multi-channel retailer who sells in two retail stores, on our website and on Amazon.
What Will You Do?
As the bike buyer/category manager for Dreamruns, you'll keep the bike business growing during the busy winter months, and throughout the rest of the bike season.
Using your industry know-how, market smarts, and a bit of historical data, you'll forecast demand like a pro (we use Inventory Planner). You'll be the one chatting directly with suppliers, deciding what to order, how often to order it, and in what quantities. You will also help with the transition from buying from bike distributors to brands directly.
You'll also be the master of pricing and promotions, making sure we hit our sales targets and keep our stock moving. Working closely with the marketing team, you'll spotlight the products and promos each month and set the sales goals.
Reporting to the owners, your tasks will include, but aren’t limited to:
Strategic Planning
- Craft and roll out a killer portfolio strategy that aligns with our overall business vibes.
- Keep your finger on the pulse of market trends, competitor moves, and industry shifts.
- Dive into sales data and performance metrics to spot opportunities for growth.
- Manage pricing analysis based on market trends, product margins, and price elasticity.
Product Assortment
- Dial in ordering, assortment, and inventory levels to match seasonal demand and hit business goals like sales revenue, product margins, and stock turns.
- Lock in favorable payment terms, pricing, and promotional opportunities with suppliers.
- Make sure our product mix is on point, meeting customer demands and delivering great value.
- Keep inventory tight by ensuring a steady flow of fast-moving products and clearing out overstock with promotions.
Financial Management
- Own the category budget, making sure resources are used wisely.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, using data to make decisions that boost profitability.
- Implement pricing strategies that keep us competitive and drive sales.
- Update the rolling 12-month forecast monthly to ensure efficiency in inventory.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Communication
- Work closely with marketing, sales, and logistics to make sure everything runs smoothly.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align category plans with the bigger picture, like new product launches and marketing campaigns.
- Keep your team in the loop on current US market trends and product development opportunities.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to score the best deals.
- Evaluate and bring on new suppliers when needed.
Promotions and Marketing
- Take charge of the bike online catalog on the website.
- Oversee product creation on the website, ensuring accuracy and localizing product pages for the US market.
- Brief marketing to push excess and obsolete stock items while minimizing profit impact.
Performance Analysis
- Regularly check the performance of each category against key performance indicators (KPIs) and tweak ordering and pricing strategies as needed.
- Create, analyze, and present weekly and monthly reports to business leaders.
Analysis of New Business Opportunities
- Dive into market research, new product releases, and data analytics.
What You'll Have
- A degree in marketing or business.
- Some experience in demand planning, buying, inventory management, and merchandising.
- Proven success in managing pricing to reduce overstock and hit sales and margin targets.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to tell a story with data.
- A serious passion for the cycling industry, even if it’s not part of your work history, and a solid understanding of key competitors and product ranges.
- Top-notch attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially with Excel
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- The ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
- A self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently and efficiently.
