Bilingual Dental Receptionist Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic bilingual Dental receptionist to join our friendly and mission-driven team. This person must be fluent in both English and Spanish. Qualifications: The Bilingual Dental Receptionist must be fluent in both Spanish/English. 1+ years of experience in a dental office is preferred. Should be able to show proof of medical interpretation/translation certification or must be willing to obtain medical translation certification within 1 year of employment (to be paid by employer). Must be able to demonstrate judgment, patience, integrity, organization, and prioritization in multi-task environment. Must have attention to detail, dependability, listening and communication skills, and flexibility. Must have cultural competency and take a trauma-informed and harm-reduction approach to health care.
Responsibilities include:
Receptionist Responsibilities:
- Checks in patients, which includes collecting paperwork, updating demographic information, verifying insurance, and collecting payment.
- Processes collections, including storing cash and using credit card machines properly.
- Manages patient flow including triaging of "walk ins."
- Coordinate's referrals and medical records.
- Understands when to escalate situations to dental leadership.
- Demonstrates exceptional in-person and telephone courtesy.
- Use sound judgment in patient communication, especially with upset patients.
Billing Responsibilities:
- Processes insurance preauthorization/predeterminations and benefit limit exceptions (BLEs)
- Assists in the insurance claim process
Quality Assurance/Improvement (QA/QI) Responsibilities:
- Assists dental leadership in QA/QI responsibilities including maintaining patient database and developing proper systems to address no shows and patient loss to follow up.
Translation/Interpretation:
- Ability to transfer speech from English/Spanish to Spanish/English.
- Ability to transfer written text from English/Spanish to Spanish/English.
General Responsibilities/Team Functions:
- Competence in the use of Electronic Health Record systems.
- Maintains patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Works in compliance with all medical/dental policies and with standards such as OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA and funding body regulations.
- Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
- Exercises good judgment in bringing any issues necessary to the attention of the supervising dentist or dental leadership.
- Maintains and improves professional and technical knowledge.
- Constantly strives to achieve excellence in the day-to-day operations of Philadelphia FIGHT Dental Services.
Physical demands:
- Occasional lifting of 40 - 50 lbs and pushing of 5-20 lbs
- Sitting, standing, and walking approximately 80% of the time
- A medium to high level of manual dexterity required
- Bending and reaching approximately 20% of the time. Normal accessibility and mobility required
- Normal overtime/extended work hours
Other: Initial probationary period is three months.
Salary range: Commensurate with experience.
Travel requirements: Minimal local travel required between Philadelphia FIGHT Health Centers.
Work hours: 40 Hours/Week
