JOB PURPOSE: The MAP Counselor/Nevada Health Link Outreach Counselor will ensure up-to-date Medicare/NVHL information and assistance is provided to Nevada residents via the helpline and in person at different counseling sites. This position will assist Medicare beneficiaries and NVHL clients to enroll in Medicare or Nevada Health Link Plans. Assist in explaining benefits, select appropriate Part D plans, troubleshoot difficult Medicare calls/cases, and provide in-person presentations to the public across northern counties.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) mandatory.
- Must have a valid driver license and be able to drive the AHN company car when needed.
- Required to pass a background check through the State of Nevada.
- Must be able to obtain an Exchange Enrollment Facilitator License (EEF) within 30 days at the agency's expense.
- Gain a clear and basic knowledge of Access to Healthcare Network administrative duties, services, and systems.
- Abide by all HIPAA requirements.
- Attend community meetings as requested.
- Attend outreach events for NVHL.
- Must attend staff meetings and be willing to meet with direct supervisor on a consistent and regular basis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Maintain working knowledge of social services available throughout our community.
- Create and maintain effective working relationships with partner organizations.
- Serve as a visible and trusted source of information on the full range of information of SHIP, SMP, NVHL and MIPPA services.
- Field inquiry calls from interested parties, explain Medicare, NVHL and related programs.
- Provide one-on-one Medicare counseling and benefits acquisition by phone or in-person to meet client needs.
- Provide referrals to appropriate community resources to meet client needs.
- Make timely disposition of calls and take appropriate actions on inquiry calls, questions, and referrals.
- Travel to and cover at offsite locations throughout Northern to complete MAP presentations.
- Attend community events to represent MAP - as needed.
- Assist clients enroll in Insurance products on Nevada Health Link website.
- Accurately and effectively use data entry forms, Salesforce, STARS, and SIRS
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of Medicare related information in Salesforce.
- Ability to adapt to changing work environment and duties.
- Flexibility: Each department selects the hours of work schedule for the department staff based on the department's needs. This schedule may change at any time according to the department's needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION MINIMUM:
- High School Diploma: AA Degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE MINIMUM:
- One year presentation experience presenting to various populations and groups.
- Two years of Social Program experience.
- Two years' experience with Medicare - preferred.
- Two years computer experience including: Microsoft operating systems, word processing, spreadsheets, database input, and report generation.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and execution of organizational communication.
- Medicare MAP Certification - preferred.
- Knowledge of public health programs - preferred.
- Knowledge of health care delivery and/or health care insurance.
- Positive telephone presence.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Extreme patience with strong verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate/evaluate callers' needs and describe complex concepts.
- Implement critical thinking abilities with an emphasis on research skills and resourcefulness.
- Quick/accurate data entry and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to be both compassionate and professional with the population and staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Be able to sit at a computer for 4 - 6 hours per day.
- Be able to stand between 3 - 6 hours per day.
- Be able to withstand hand/wrist deviation and repetition.
- Be able to lift, carry up to 30 pounds with a fair consistency.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and the employee usually works in a climate controlled office environment.
