WHAT DO WE DO?
CHSI is a private, non-profit organization established in 1973 to serve the health needs of migrant & seasonal farm workers and their family members. Today, CHSI has expanded services and provides mental & physical healthcare to all individuals in our communities. Our servicesare provided on a more affordable sliding fee scale to those who are under-insured or un-insured. We also accept ND and MN Medicaid, Medicare, and most private insurance plans. We currently operate four nurse-managed clinics, two mobile medical units, and two victim advocacy program centers in Minnesota & North Dakota.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are on the search for a Full-time Bilingual Patient Relations Representative to join our Willmar, MN team. In a Patient Relations Representative role at CHSI, will be responsible for providing assistance to patients on the telephone and at the front desk and processing all healthcare service payments.
Duties:
- Manages large volumes of inbound and outbound calls in a timely manner: always identifying self and clinic.
- Provides assistance to patients and others contacting the clinic by telephone; may provide direct assistance or take messages and direct calls to the appropriate party.
- Completes initial registration information of new patients following established policies and procedures.
- Updates any changes of patient's information in computer database and scans updated paperwork into Electronic Health Record (EHR) under correct tabs, including documenting phone notes when appropriate.
- Follow communication "scripts" when handling different topics.
- Identify patients' and other customers' needs, clarify information, research every issue and provide solutions and/or alternatives.
- Navigate through patients' chart in the EHR to locate appropriate information.
- Maintains daily EHR worklist.
- Verifies coverage under insurance, Medicare, Managed Care, and other federal/state programs.
- Verifies pharmacy information and other clinical information related to a patient's visit.
- Processes patient payments over the phone
- Documents notes in computer regarding collections, payment arrangements, failed appointment notice, or additional conversations.
- Monitors automatic call reminder system; making sure that cancellations are identified and reconciled with the schedule.
- Manually reminds patients of appointments when the automatic call reminder system is unable to do so.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
ARE YOU A GOOD FIT?
In addition to being a wonderful team member, we are seeking an individual with the below qualifications:
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
- In an eight hour workday, the employee must be able to: bend and crouch occasionally, sit continuously and stand or walk frequently.
- Employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Employee must be able to use hands/arms, feet/legs for repetitive fine to large motor skill movements.
PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required
- Medical Administration Certificate or 2 years experience in medical reception is required
- Ability to use Microsoft Word for basic correspondence
- Must be able to use a calculator
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) (English/Arabic) (English/Somali) preferred but not required
- Ability to adapt to specific environment and duties
- Demonstrate clear knowledge of CHSI clinic structure, standards, procedures and protocols
- Must have neat and legible handwriting
- Must be able to interact with patients courteously and calmly
- Ability to communicate well effectively with patients, clients, vendors, and staff
