Maximus is currently hiring for Billing Support Specialists to join our Veterans Evaluation Services (VES) team in our Houston, TX location. The Billing Specialist is responsible for a variety of duties, as assigned by Manager, which include routine billing payment posting, and problem-solving for various types of facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Process invoices for payment from diagnostic facilities according to Medicare rates. - Analyze accounts and use proper CPT codes and correct rates; - Send out the denial letters to facilities for procedures, codes, and dates of service not ordered, or to request more information if needed; - Ensure all doctors and claims status calls are answered in a professional manner. - Process transportation expense claims for Veterans; - Answer faxes and emails received from both hospitals and read facilities; and - Frequently communicate with facilities and other departments within the company to request any information if needed to ensure the highest quality of QA and billing. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: - Process Independent Medical Opinion payments; - Process VBA mileage/expense reimbursements checks for providers and facilities; - Process, investigate, and settle claims by Veterans that have been billed directly; - Attend meetings as required; - Process checks by stamping signature on checks, and verifying printed checks batch the EOB; and - Other duties as assigned. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: - Self- starter; - Familiarity with CPT codes for claim charges; - Advanced verbal and interpersonal skills; - Advanced written communication skills, to include excellent grammar; - Advanced reading and comprehension abilities; - Advanced analytical skills and detail- oriented; - Advanced multi- tasking skills; - Advanced organizational and prioritization skills, with strong ability to meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision; - Proficient typing skills; and - Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, general internet research, and beginner knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. required
- Ability to stand for undetermined amount of time as necessary required
- Must live in or near Houston, TX
- Ability to work onsite in our Houston, TX office required
- Ability to commit to a 1-month training period, fully onsite in the Houston office, with a schedule of 8:00am-4:30pm CT Monday-Friday with no absences required
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma required; Previous Billing experience preferred.

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
