About the Job
To implement the Bio-Medical equipment program of systematic and effective control over the selection, safety maintenance and performance of the hospital’s Bio-Medical equipment. Safety inspections, preventive maintenance, calibration, corrective maintenance, evaluation of equipment, reports quality control and financial control are primary duties.

Responsibilities:1. Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees. Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors and other employees. Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center and its employees.
2. Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department. Contribution and participation includes data collection, analysis, implementation of and compliance with risk management and claims activities, support of and participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, consistent adherence to the specific rules and regulations of the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center (a) Safety and Security Policies, (b) Risk Management: Incident and Occurrence Reporting, (c) Infection Control Policies and Procedures and (d) Patient and Customer Service.
3. Extensive working knowledge of bio-medical equipment.
4. Knowledge and observance of safety precautions.
5. Knowledge and application of all current safety standards for bio-medical equipment.
6. Knowledge of all program standards, procedures and reports are required.
7. Ability to work without more than normal supervision.
8. Ability to inspect and report bio-medical equipment and patient environmental electrical discrepancies.
9. Ability to perform preventive maintenance, calibration and corrective maintenance on most bio-medical equipment.
10. Ability to work with other assigned technicians.
11. Ability to communicate with key hospital employees and staff physicians.
12. Ability to perform in stress situations.
13. Willingness to work shift and respond to after hour’s emergency service requests.
14. Perform Preventive Maintenance inspections, electrical safety testing and calibrations on patient related equipment and systems in all hospital areas.
15. Performs repairs.
16. Performs incoming inspections on equipment prior to their use within the hospital.
17. Monitor surveillance of warranty and service agreements.
18. Provide in-service training to Nursing and Medical personnel regarding proper operation and electrical safety of Bio-Medical instrumentation.
19. Physical requirements:
A. Good distant vision in both eyes and ability to read, without
strain, printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses
permitted.
B. Ability to hear conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid.
- Has at least three or more (3+) years experience with medical equipment.
- Reads and understands electrical schematics, mechanical assembly drawings and instrument service manuals.
- Formalized training in electronics and/or electronic instrumentation.
- Associate’s in Science or Engineering
- Computer literate
