Candidate Profile
JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.
Active Bar Admission in Pennsylvania.
4+ years of substantive experience in patent counseling and prosecution within the life sciences industry.
Ph.D
in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
Registered to practice before the U.S
Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Proven experience with biotechnology companies and investors, focusing on international patent portfolio development, lifecycle management, non-infringement and invalidity analysis, post-grant proceedings, and IP due diligence.
Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Advise life sciences clients on comprehensive patent portfolio management, including development, prosecution, and enforcement of patents across domestic and international markets.
Lead client engagements on strategic IP lifecycle planning, addressing complex matters like second-generation drugs, biologics, and international patent strategy.
Conduct due diligence assessments and deliver high-quality counseling on transactions, infringement, defense, and avoidance strategies.
Represent clients in high-stakes patent disputes before the USPTO, including post-grant proceedings and other contentious matters.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to shape patent protection strategies aligned with client goals in discovery-stage biotechnology, as well as with established pharmaceutical companies.
Develop and implement IP strategies that protect and enhance the value of client assets, including advice on non-infringement, invalidity, and competitive positioning.
