Our National Security Global Business is currently seeking a Biologist (Textiles, Materials) . This position located in Natick, MA with 10-20% travel required (U.S. Locations).
Responsibilities
+ Apply basic analytical techniques needed for textile imaging and analysis:
+ Scanning Electron Microscopy
+ Light Microscopy, Spectrometry
+ Repellency Testing (AATCC TM118,Spray Rating, Timed Droplet Wetting)
+ Biological laboratory skills to support biosynthesis and biomanufacture:
+ Aseptic Technique
+ Cell Culture
+ DNA Extraction
+ Gel Electrophoresis
+ Bacterial Transformation
+ Media and Buffer Preparation,
+ Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing
+ Live/Dead Staining
+ Gram Staining
+ Biochemical Testing
+ PCR, FPLC Purification
+ Informatics skills to support peptide design and synthesis:
+ Bioinformatics
+ Genome Analysis
+ JMP Software (Design of Experiments)
+ Protein Folding Predictions/Modeling (Rfdiffusion, Swiss, Alpha, or similar)
+ Analyze information and data and assess the status of testing projects.
+ Participate in Integrated Product Team meetings.
+ Experience analyzing bioceramic peptide sequences for structure and function, with focus on producing bioceramics for PFAS alternatives
+ Develop purification methods for peptide recovery from a biomanufacture system (yeast Pichia pastoris)
+ Develops technical reports, presentations, and proposals communicating results and proposing follow-on efforts
+ Must be able to identify, troubleshoot, report, and resolve data inconsistencies and equipment issues as well as be able to learn to operate test and evaluation equipment and software.
+ Good oral and written communication skills.
Key Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field and up to 5 years’ experience in the technical field.
+ Familiarity with ASTM, ISO, AATCC and Specification documents.
+ Must have an understanding of bioceramic chemistry for precipitation on fabrics and in solution, familiar with process to coat textiles with bioceramics.
