Overview
Halifax Health is seeking a Biomed Tech II for the Facility Operations Department.
Summary
This individual will maintain and repair biomedical and patient care equipment.
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma with two year certificate in Electronic Technology or A.S. degree in Electronic Technology from an Accredited community college or trade school.
- Minimum 5 years experience in electronics repair and 2 years in the related field. Experience determined by position and responsibilities as well as type of work.
- Good communication skills, oral and written. Ability to interact with other health care professionals. Electronic knowledge to include trouble shooting of sophisticated electronic medical equipment. Thorough understanding of electronic test equipment and diagnostic tools.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains and repairs biomedical equipment, such as:
- Patient monitoring equipment
- Vital signs monitors
- Telemetry systems
- Computerized arrhythmia monitors
- Departmental equipment
- Sterilizing equipment
- Sonic cleaners
- Warming cabinets
- Washer sanitizers, etc.
- Neonatal, Nursery, Labor and Delivery equipment
- Medical gas and vacuum systems, including outlets in patient rooms
- Surgical instruments, as well as sharpening and repair of tools
- Performs maintenance and repairs to intercom and patient communication systems.
Performs preventive maintenance and documentation of results on various patient care equipment.
Performs in-service educational programs to hospital personnel on the proper use of equipment and electrical safety.
Performs other duties as assigned.
