Position Summary:
The Armed Forces Medical Examiner System (AFMES) is a Tri-Service organization, comprised of administrative S-Staff and three (3) integrated Divisions (Forensic Pathology Investigation, DoD DNA Operations, and Forensic Toxicology) whose overall mission is to provide comprehensive and innovative medico-legal services worldwide.
AFMES provides mission support to the DoD in the fields of human remains identification from both current and previous conflicts; forensic toxicology; medico-legal death investigations; forensic DNA analytical services; mass- fatality specimen collection and management services; and human reference specimen collection, cataloging, archival, and retrieval repository services. AFMES is comprised of several subordinate elements providing support to this critical worldwide mission.
Midnight Sun is looking to hire a Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician. The primary objective of this position is to support the Laboratory Support Services to Logistics, FPI, DoD DNA Operations and DFT divisions. They will work very closely with their government counterparts in providing administrative, resources management, and laboratory support. This position is contingent upon contract award.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide supply and inventory management support to ensure all laboratories remain operational and stocked with required supplies and equipment. This includes the stocking of supplies and equipment.
- Act as hand receipt holder/manager in asset management/accountability for equipment placed on hand receipt. Work closely with the government Accountable Property Officer (APO) in all areas of asset management from cradle to grave to include ordering, receipt, maintenance, and disposition.
- Provide technical recommendations and specifications of anticipated Government supply and equipment purchases to ensure appropriateness for established protocols and laboratory procedures.
- Provide support in scheduling and tracking preventive maintenance, routine maintenance and warranty work on equipment and non-IT systems in use in the laboratories.
- Conduct market research for supplies/equipment using web enabled and automated systems including internet, Defense Medical Logistics Supply System (DMLSS), DoD Electronic Catalog (ECAT), DoD Electronic Mall (EMALL), GSA Advantage, etc.
- Provide technical and administrative support to laboratories as required.
- Provide support in scheduling and tracking preventive maintenance, routine maintenance and warranty work on equipment and non-IT systems in use in the laboratories.
- Manage and perform laboratory equipment preventive maintenance as dictated by the government.
- Provide support in scheduling repair requests for broken equipment and non-IT systems in use in the laboratories.
- Provide written status updates to the division chiefs regarding equipment warranties, maintenance, and equipment repair requests submitted by FPI, DoD DNA Operations or DFT.
- Provide appropriate metrics on monthly activities to demonstrate to the government TO compliance and operational success. Metrics at a minimum should include Number of new work order requests, number of closed work order requests, number of work order requests left open from previous month, Turn-around-time (TAT) for scheduled and unscheduled services by division, Number of UHS/Agility Maintenance Contract requests by division, and number of DMLSS work orders opened by division.
- Support requires coordination between Government and third-party maintenance staff.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Experience working with Microsoft Office
- 3+ years of experience in logistical or warehouse support
- 3+ years of experience in equipment repair in a biomedical/ laboratory environment; government experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain

- Able to lift and move loads of over 50 lbs.
- Must be able to complete physically demanding shifts
