Job Title: BIW and Closures Design Engineer Location: Raymond, Ohio

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled BIW (Body-in-White) and Closures Design Engineer with 3+ years of experience in high-volume automotive design. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing both BIW (upper and lower body) and closures systems, with strong proficiency in CATIA V6 and GSD methodology. The role involves collaborating with OEM design engineers, working with suppliers, and ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and development of BIW components (outer skin panels, inner panels, reinforcements, brackets) and closures systems (door panels, latch reinforcements, intrusion beams, hinge reinforcements).
• Collaborate with OEM Design Studio, CAE teams, and Closures Mechanisms team to ensure high-quality designs.
• Create and complete sheet metal parts such as brackets, panels, and structural components.
• Interpret CAE simulation results and integrate recommendations into product designs.
• Actively engage with automotive OEM engineers to balance cost, mass, formability, joining methods, and performance.
• Ensure designs meet Design for Manufacturing standards, with a strong knowledge of GD&T and dimensional engineering.
• Support the development of vehicle milestones, prototype builds, and production events.
• Manage and lead a 10-person offshore team to ensure project success.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years of proven experience in designing high-volume automotive BIW parts and closures systems.
• Proficiency in CATIA V6 and experience creating 3D designs and 2D drawings.
• Strong working knowledge of Design for Manufacturing, formability, and GD&T.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage offshore resources.
