Job Title: RBT Training Specialist (BCBA)
Job Classification: Full Time (1.0 FTE), Exempt Employee (hourly)
Billable Requirement: 25-Hours Per Week
Reports to: Clinical Supervisor & Talent Development Manager
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Training, the RBT Training Specialist will work in conjunction with BCI’s Training Department to ensure high quality training and supervision of behavior technicians. The RBT Training Specialist will support the development of our culture of excellence, accountability, critical thinking, and excitement by operating in alignment with BCI’s Core Values in all aspects of the position and providing trainees with friendly, clear communication, and timely support during all phases of their training experience.
The RBT Training Specialist will be responsible for providing time-limited training for BCI’s Behavior Technicians to assist them with meeting RBT career ladder requirements, provide supplemental training and supervision, and conduct assessment and evaluation on their clinical application of ABA when working with clients and stakeholders. The RBT Training Specialist will be required to maintain a minimum of 25 billable hours per week by providing supervision services both through Synchronous and Asynchronous supervision.
Essential Duties Include the Following:
Advanced/Supplemental RBT Trainings (.3 FTE)
Uses behavior skills training to support high-quality training, evaluation, and competency standards through regular supervision and treatment fidelity evaluations for behavior technicians. Conducts training for technicians on the mastery of the application of ABA principles across client profiles, treatment settings, generalized across supervisors, and maintained over time while creating a learning environment where technicians are engaged, energized, and motivated to strive for continued improvement.
Provides mentorship to technicians on essential job responsibilities, and best practice approaches in areas including, but not limited to: Assent/Assent withdrawal, session preparedness, pairing, services in the community, technique implementation, data collection, medical documentation, professionalism, and ethics.
RBT Competency Evaluations (.05 FTE)
Completes Initial and Renewal evaluations in a timely and high quality manner.
Senior & Lead RBT Evaluations (.65 FTE)
- Supports advanced training for senior technicians.
- Leverages BCI systems and tools to measure performance against standards and training objectives to ensure continuous quality improvement that is reflected in improved treatment fidelity, family satisfaction, and staff retention.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records and documentation and monthly supervision schedule in accordance with minimum billable quota criteria.
- Maintain interdepartmental communication regarding training progression, recommended supplemental training, and barriers to achieving treatment fidelity. Timely escalation of barriers to implementing training to a high quality.
- Initiative in managing a dynamic supervision and training schedule through ongoing synchronous and asynchronous supervision practices. Activity includes, but is not limited to:
- Creates a monthly clinical supervision schedule to maintain minimum billable quota
- Oversees learning plans for newly paired technicians and advanced training plans for clinical interns and/or senior technicians.
- Manages supplemental training to increase competence across clinical and professional domains for identified technicians.
Required Meetings: (.05 FTE)
- Weekly or Bi-Weekly Meeting with Talent Development Supervisor
- Weekly meeting with Training Coordinator
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position does not include any supervisory responsibilities
Required Skills and Abilities:
Ability to use applied behavioral analysis principles. Ability to utilize positive and negative reinforcement for shaping behavior. Ability to take and analyze data. Ability to utilize least restrictive measures in avoiding escalated situations. Ability to use verbal interventions that involve use of empathy, compassion, positive behavioral programming, respect, openness, client-centered approach, as well as best practice interventions. Ability to engage in active listening. Ability to analyze and separate out individual versus systemic issues. Ability to abide by the BACB guidelines pertaining to the BCBA such as the code of ethics.
Education /Certifications:
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, or related field; Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA or BCBA-D Required); A minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with children with developmental delays or autism spectrum disorder as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
Experience:
- Experience with e-learning, training development, presentation skills, training large cohorts of direct service providers.
- Demonstrated competencies and skills as outlined in the Senior Clinician → Senior Clinical Supervisor Competencies Clinical Competencies.
- Clinical experience: conducting assessments using the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) and/or Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP); developing treatment plans, programs; supervising clinical staff, monitoring progress. Familiarity with Verbal Behavior Approach and naturalistic teaching procedures etc.
Writing Skills
Ability to produce careful documentation for employee human resource files, in accordance with best practice. Ability to write in English and produce written material with appropriate grammar preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from your direct supervisor, employees, job candidates and community partners when appropriate.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, pictorial or schedule form. Ability to demonstrate good judgment and efficiency during decision-making.
Other Skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with others. Ability to prioritize tasks and demonstrate efficient use of time.
- Ability to portray a professional, polished appearance and communication. Excellent technological skills and ability to learn new systems quickly using cloud based servers, software and online applicant tracking systems.
