Firmware and systems engineer for board management controllers and related projects
Platforms: Embedded Linux, bare metal, and Mac/Linux controlled laboratory devices
Secondary responsibilities include but are not limited to: hardware specification and schematic review, embedded Linux infrastructure, regression and release systems, utilization tracking, regression/release systems, and manufacturing support for a cross-functional team.
Apple designs many product-destined SoCs and test chips each year; each one has multiple complex bring-up and characterization boards designed for them; our team enables our full suite of firmware for each board to enable both in-person and remote bring-up, analysis, and debug of the silicon in person and at scale.Description-You will design, develop, release, maintain, and enhance micro-controller or embedded Linux code running in FPGAs and controlling Apple SoCs that power phones, pads, macs, and other unreleased products.
-You will lead boards and Apple SoC bring-ups collaborating with cross functional teams.
-You will own and develop novel architectures for specialty embedded solutions.Minimum QualificationsA minimum of a BS degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience in silicon validation software engineering or related field.Key QualificationsProficient in C or C++Experienced with embedded software, bare metal.Preferred QualificationsFamiliar with boot code, low-level OS code, device drivers, and IO devicesExperience with computer initialization, SoC bring-up, debuggers, and networkingExperience with FPGA, Verilog, HDLUnix system-level programming, embedded LinuxScripting (Python, Bash, Perl, TCL, Lua)Experience with Xilinx Zynq or Altera SoC platformWorking knowledge of schematics and lab equipmentPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range
This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role
The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs
Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan
