Responsibilities
As a Body Shop Estimator, you would be responsible for ensuring customers’ vehicles are assessed and given a repair estimate, then relaying that information to the body shop technician so that the car can be repaired in a timely fashion. Estimators should pay close attention to detail. Continued training would be provided.
Assesses damaged vehicle to determine extent of structural, body, mechanical, or interior design.
Estimates cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item.
Determines feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders, and doors.
Evaluates practicality of repair as opposed to payment of vehicle market value before accident.
Determines salvage value of total vehicle loss.
Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations.
Estimates cost of repairing, converting to special purposes, or customizing undamaged vehicles.
Reviews the completed vehicle to check quality and thoroughness
Qualifications
A self-motivated team player that is able to communicate effectively with team members
Must be able to stoop, bend, and twist on a daily basis.
Previous experience in auto body work and repairs is required.
I-Car certification is preferred.
Have a valid driver’s license.
Pass a motor vehicle report and possess a safe driving record.
Pass a criminal background check and drug test. Also subject to random drug testing at the company’s request.

The Body Shop Estimator may be required to stand for long periods of time, sit for long periods of time, walk with customers and team members, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The environment for the Body Shop Estimator varies, but often is an office setting and working in a car showroom. The Body Shop Estimator will be required to walk the dealership property and may encounter inclement weather. The Body Shop Estimator may also enter the service areas and be exposed to dangerous work environments and loud noises. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
