to and from work; will be required to work weekends and nights at times.
Summary of Position: Must observe all Boh Bros. safety protocol. Duties include but are not limited to shoveling concrete and dirt, preparing utility pipe for crew, cutting materials, hauling materials, hand grading, checking string lines, housekeeping at job site, checking safety protocol, laying out job materials according to plan, beginning of shift set-up and end of shift clean-up, etc. Performs any combination of following tasks:
- Installing waterworks.
- Digs, spreads, and levels dirt and gravel, using pick and shovel.
- Lifts, carries, and holds building materials, tools, and supplies.
- Cleans tools, equipment, materials, and work areas.
- Mixes, pours, and spreads concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials, using hand tools.
- Joins, wraps, and seals sections of pipe.
- Performs variety of routine, nonmachine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, placing culvert sections in trench.
- Many of these jobs are not full time; project size and organization of work determine whether workers spend their time on one job or transfer from task to task as project progresses to completion.
- Some workers habitually work in one branch of industry, whereas others transfer according to availability of work or on seasonal basis. Work is usually performed with other workers.
- Equipment Requirements: Able to work with a wheelbarrow, plate compactor, pressure washers, weed whackers, hand tools, pneumatic hand tools (i.e. jackhammers, impact wrenches, etc.) and other small pieces of equipment. Must be trained prior to operating any type of saw (i.e. chainsaw, chop saw, cutoff saw, etc.)
- Experience/Skills Required: Must have experience in the road or construction field, working outdoors in extreme weather conditions and able to understand simple directions. Must be devoted and reliable. TWIC card preferred.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands: Ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions, cold, heat, humidity, and frequently at heights. Also may be exposed to hazards associated with but not limited to dust, odors, fumes, noise, and vibration hazards. According to this analysis, this job is classified as:
Medium: Lifting 50 # maximum, frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 20 #; unrestricted walking and standing. 70-80% of the time.
Heavy: Lifting 100 # maximum, frequent lifting and/or carrying of up to 50 #; unrestricted walking and standing. 20-30% of the time.
