Job Summary:
This individual inspects and performs routine preventive maintenance services and determines maintenance needs on heavy construction equipment. This work is performed both on the job site as well as in the Company's shop.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reads work orders and specifications in order to perform preventative maintenance tasks and repairs.
- Inspects equipment and marks defective areas and/or advises appropriate Supervision of repair needs.
- Reassembles machines after the completion of maintenance work.
- Services all types of vehicles and equipment. Records mileage/hours, checks fluid levels, battery, cooling system, hydraulic and engine oil, checks tires for wear and pressure, replaces wiper blades, fuses and light bulbs.
- Drains and service fluids such as oil and coolant on equipment and reports discrepancies to supervisor before making any repairs or adjustments beyond normal preventative maintenance requirements.
- Maintains records effectively and accurately completes work orders.
- Performs Job Safety Analysis (JSA) daily and as tasks or conditions change.
- Maintains a safe work environment by verifying the operations of vehicle and equipment safety devices and by following safety standards and procedures.
- Adheres to all company and OSHA mandated safety policies and procedures including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Follows established EPA laws and local regulations involving chemical use, disposal as well as identification reporting guidelines.
- Practices good housekeeping.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3 – 5 years of experience work with heavy equipment preferred to include experience with greasing and servicing applicable equipment.
- Ability to comply with all DOT requirements including applicable CDL, MVR and Medical Card.
- Familiar with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for materials used in work activities.
- Ability to work over time when needed.
- Ability to successfully complete site specific safety training courses and tests.
- Must be detail oriented and thorough in completing task assigned.
- Demonstrates dependability by fulfilling commitments.
- Must be able to exercise sound independent judgement.
- Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate with all levels of staff and maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Ability to work safely and comply with the Company's safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to commit to the Company's values.

Physical Demands: According to this analysis, this job is classified as: Medium – Lifting 50 pounds maximum, frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 35 pounds, unrestricted walking and standing 100% of the time.
