*37.5 HOURS PER WEEK*NY HELPS Non-Competitive Minimum Qualifications:Four years of commercial, residential, or military experience in boiler making, boiler installation or inspection or in the operation and maintenance of high and/or low pressure boilers including all firing apparatus and control devices.Substitution: An associate degree* in engineering technology, marine engineering, mechanical engineering, or mechanical technology and either two years of commercial, residential, or military experience in boiler making, boiler installation or inspection or in the operation and maintenance of high and/or low pressure boilers including all firing apparatus and control devices.*Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. Inspections will be conducted as the result of complaints or accidents. Inspections may require climbing through small openings, climbing on top of boilers and spending considerable time with the boiler.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: This position may require a fingerprint background check prior to appointment.A medical examination will be required prior to appointment, and you are responsible for payment of the clinical laboratory test fee.
