Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector 1 located in Fairbanks!

This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 19.
What You Will Be Doing:
Conducts inspections for the safe and proper construction, installation, repair, use and operation of boilers and unfired pressure vessels.
Advises contractors, plumbing and heating technicians on the construction, installation, operation, and repair of boilers and unfired pressure vessels.
Completes inspection reports, issues violations, and initiates condemnation proceedings as necessary, subject to higher level review.
Explains laws and regulations related to Boiler and Pressure Vessel inspection function to the general public.

The mission is to ensure safe and legal working conditions while providing protection through inspection and certification of Boiler and Pressure Vessels. All boiler and pressure vessel certificate inspections are conducted by National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Commissioned Inspectors.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
The position is based out of Fairbanks, Alaska. Conduct jurisdictional certificate inspections at commercial facilities and apartment homes of 6 units and above. State of Alaska vehicle will be used for transportation between the state office and inspection sites. Over night travel to remote locations will be required 25% to 40% of the time. Travel to remote locations may consist of small aircraft, helicopter, train, boats, ferry, ATV or snow machine.

- Familiarity with the latest version of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Construction Code. National Board Inspection Code, and compliance within a jurisdiction.
- Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Products, Jurisdiction Online and internet based data systems; be skilled and proficient at writing professional letters.
