POSITION SUMMARY:
The Willbanks Contactor Support (WCS), Boiler Technician's primary function is to operate, repair, maintain, and adjust boilers, pumps, water lines, steam lines, valves, and all related systems and equipment. You will also have to troubleshoot heating boilers, heating systems, and fuel power boilers with complex problems and extensive repairs requiring judgment to locate malfunctions.
Our Boiler Technicians work in industrial environments such as factories, power plants, campuses, hospitals, commercial residential properties, in the equipment rooms of large buildings that run on boiler systems. Once the boiler is in working order, the Boiler Technician will complete and record their services through various paperwork.
This position will need to work a rotating on-call schedule potentially 7 days a week, in busy times. Our Boiler Technicians will work various hours in times when our customer is in need, including some nights, some weekends, and some holidays. This position reports to the field service manager. Technicians work a 7:00am – 4:00pm average day.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, LICENSES, and EXPERIENCE:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Will diagnose malfunctions of equipment to determine cause and appropriate corrective action.
- Will need to perform preventative maintenance tasks according to established protocols.
- Plans and lays-out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, guides, codes, and work orders.
- Troubleshoots heating boilers, heating systems, and fuel power boilers with complex problems and extensive repairs, requiring judgment to locate malfunctions.
- Must be able to read and work from schematics.
- Must have the ability and knowledge to trouble shoot systems with no schematic.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must have a broad knowledge of boiler controls including Autoflame, Honeywell, Fireye, Raypack, and Siemens.
- Know the difference in Domestic hot water vs Hydronic hot water, Steam and Hot Oil.
- Must be able to operate a combustion analysis unit.
- Must understand and read a manometer, electronic or Slack Tube.
- Know hot to properly use and understand a multi-meter.
- Must have the ability to trouble shoot boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Must be able to retrofit control systems in the field.
- Maintain company issues tools, laptop or tablet, company credit card and company vehicles.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ensure duties and company projects are accomplished in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Mechanical and electrical background is a must.
- Support other technicians and management with internal and external projects.
- Have knowledge of PLC’s, transformers, transmitters, and other controls.
- Wire all controls and motors for water tube and firetube boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Familiarity with condensate tanks and deaerators.
- Reads and understands wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Able to trouble shoot, fire, and set combustion on all types of boilers.
- Determine valve trim, regulator size and spring, oil gun length and size, and all other parts and accessories needed to fire any boiler.
- Able to fire and set combustion on boiler with all types of pneumatic controls.
- Able to fire and set combustion on boiler with all types of electrical controls.
- Must adhere to company policies.
- Must be a team player/independent worker who is a professional, reliable resource.
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, LICENSES, and EXPERIENCE:
- 2 year's of experience working in a similar role, is required.
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Preference will be given to those candidates having completed a technology program in Boilers, HVAC's.
- TWIC Card is required, (Company paid).
- HASC - Houston area safety council, basic+. Will be required. (Company paid).
- Prior OSHA 10 Safety training is preferred.
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
- Must pass a criminal background and pre-employment drug test.
