To ensure interdisciplinary, patient-focused, well-coordinated system of care for oncology patients coping with Breast Cancer.  To collaboratively assess, plan, facilitate and evaluate timely coordination of quality care for the cancer patient.  Breast Patient Navigator will be a direct report to the Manager, Ray W. Moody Breast Center.

The compensation range for the role is $68,796. - $85,995. Salaried 

Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.   The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.  When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).

Moody Breast Center.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education:                      

• Associates Degree in Nursing or Imaging/Radiology required. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing or related Imaging field preferred.

Minimum Experience:

• One to Two years’ experience in Oncology or Breast Specialty Nursing/ or Breast Imaging required, outpatient environment preferred
• Evidence of successful program planning experience preferred. Possess strong computer skills & communication skills. Ability to multi-task.

Required Certification/Registration:

• Applicable licensure, certification, registration for healthcare field.
• ARRT – Mammography certification required within 12 months of hire or transfer.
• Requires current cancer-specific certification in breast disease or breast cancer from an accredited certification program.
• Practices and maintains continuing education (15 credits) in care of the Breast Patient.
• Current cancer-specific certification, preferably in breast cancer, required/obtained within 2 years after date of hire or transfer. Other Oncology Nursing Certifications that qualify for this standard include, but are not limited to:
  • Certified Breast Care Nurse (CBCN)
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)
  • Oncology Nurse Navigator-Certified Generalist (ONN-CG)
  • Oncology Patient Navigator-Certified Generalist (OPN-CG)
  • Breast Health Clinical Navigator (BHCN)

Working Conditions:

• Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works primarily inside and may occasionally work outdoors. Frequent contact with various Medical Center staff, sales representatives, employees and community members.  May be exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous or moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity.
• For Remote and Hybrid Remote positions:   If deemed operationally necessary, position may be required to report in and work on-site.  
• Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate point of sales system, computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and push over 75 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out and below.
• Hospital & office setting, with patient rounding. Ability to sit, walk or stand for long periods of time. 24-hour accessibility. Weekends and evenings as needed.
• Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
