About the Job
Our Client is a premier contractor specializing in infrastructure and construction, with a focus on highway and bridge projects. Our dedication to quality and innovation has positioned us as a critical player in the construction and maintenance of essential transportation infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced Bridge Estimator to spearhead our estimating efforts for Caltrans bridge repair and new construction projects.
Objectives:
- High-Volume Bidding: Successfully manage and submit 4-5 competitive bid proposals per month for Caltrans bridge repair and new construction projects.
- Strategic Win Rate Achievement: Secure a win rate of at least 15% of all projects bid, demonstrating strategic insight and competitive bidding techniques.
- Comprehensive Project Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of project documents to prepare accurate time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Industry Awareness: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, cost factors, and regulatory requirements to enhance bidding strategies.
Key Results:
- Bid Volume: Consistently submit 4-5 bids per month, focusing on strategic selection and quality of proposals.
- Win Rate: Achieve and maintain a win rate of 15%, reflecting strategic bidding and market competitiveness.
- Cost Estimation Accuracy: Maintain a high level of accuracy in cost estimates, aiming for less than 5% variance between estimated and actual project costs.
- Efficiency and Compliance: Ensure timely preparation and submission of all bids, adhering to internal and external deadlines.
Supporting KPIs:
- Total number of bids submitted vs. target
- Percentage of bids won vs. total bids submitted
- Accuracy of cost estimations (estimated vs. actual cost variance)
- Adherence to bid submission timelines
Key Skills and Experiences Required:
- Proven Experience: At least 5 years of experience in bridge construction estimating, with a strong emphasis on projects involving Caltrans. A proven track record of meeting high-volume bidding and win rate expectations.
- INAI and Hard Dollar Expertise: Deep understanding of the Identify and Assess Impacts (INAI) process and experience with hard dollar bidding strategies.
- Technical and Analytical Proficiency: Advanced skills in interpreting construction plans and specifications, along with proficiency in estimating software and Excel.
- Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective bidding strategies.
- Communication Excellence: Outstanding communication skills for crafting detailed bid proposals and collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field is preferred.
Compensation:
$150,000 - $175,000
