The community you’ll be caring for:
Britain Development, located within the B.E. Smith Family Center (https://www.adventhealth.com/hospital/adventhealth-shawnee-mission/be-smith-family-center) , is an important outreach program of AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, touching the lives of more than 5,000 children with special needs since 1972. Dedicated to serving children with special needs from birth through six years of age, Britain Development provides a unique program that involves family and friends in the process of therapeutic treatment and education.
Individualized programs are shaped for each child and family by a team of physical, occupational, and music therapists, speech language pathologists, early childhood special education teachers, behavior analysts, social workers, and paraprofessionals.
The role you’ll contribute:
The Office Coordinator is an accountable member of the patient care team. S/he serves as a receptionist and representative of Britain Developmen to customers encountering the patient care team. The OC is a lead worker for the office team responsible for providing support for outpatient wound care admissions, patient accounts postings, information services, and the patient care department, supporting unit operations and coordinating communications.

· Understands and provides appropriate communication with patients and all other customers through face to face contact, phone contact or computer.
· Demonstrates appropriate handling of medical record and other confidential information.
· Follows all patient accounting policies and procedures in the handling including order entry of patient charges.
· Follows current admissions procedures for departmental patients.
· Follows scheduling procedures in accurate and timely fashion.
· Demonstrates ability to set up charts and documents needed for clinic encounters.
· Maintains an active role in departmental upkeep including stock of supplies, filing of charts and documents, monitoring of the waiting room.
· Efficient in use of computer systems.
· Oversees the front office functions, orients and mentors' new office employees, trains clinical staff on scheduling/registration as needed.
Qualifications
+ The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
+ High School Diploma or Equivalent
+ 1 to 2 Years of Position-Related Experience _EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:_ ·Associate’s Degree or Graduate of a Technical School·2 to 5 Years of Position-Related Experience _LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:_ ·Secretary Certificate or Equivalent
