Summary About the Position: This position serves as a Budget Analyst with 189th Infantry Brigade, S-8 located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. Responsibilities Administer the Brigade's overall budgetary management system. Interpret budgetary policies, guidance and procedures used by higher headquarters and independently develop and issue subsequent policies/guidance for use within the Brigade. Compile and prepare or oversee preparation of a variety of narrative and statistical budgetary forms, schedules, and reports, which address the budget formulation and/or execution process/status. Supervise employees engaged in budget development and execution functions. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes identifying, analyzing and resolving a range of budgetary problems such as the development of alternative methods of funding, formulation of budget estimates for program in which requirements have changed to the extent that substantial re-budgeting is required each year, and development and administration of budget execution plans subject to fluctuating revenues and changing demand for services which necessitate reprogramming throughout the fiscal year. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget Execution Budget Formulation, Justification, and Presentation Concepts, Policies, and Principles of Budget Oral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
