Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of relevant work experience in government, politicsand/or campaigns. A relevant Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.? Must have a good working relationship with elected officials, faith-based leads,advocates, community boards, civic associations, etc. in the assigned region.? Must be well versed on the issues impacting the region.? Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation and public speaking skills, includingthe ability to communicate complex information clearly and accessibly for diverseaudiences.? Excellent research, reasoning and writing skills.
Duties Description Reporting to the Western New York Regional Director and the Deputy Secretary for Upstate Regional Affairs, the Buffalo Regional Representative will represent the Governor byhelping to build and maintain productive relationships with elected officials, community leaders and advocacy/issue groups.Duties:Coordinate and facilitate all significant communications between the Governor andfederal, state and local elected officials and other stakeholdersWork closely and collaboratively with Governor’s IGA team to effectively promote theGovernor’s priorities and policy strategies to critical stakeholders to achieve the desiredoutcomesAttend events, meetings and forums on behalf of the GovernorLiaise with State Agencies on ongoing State projects in the regionPlan, organize and oversee regional visits for the Governor, and other senior members ofthe AdministrationProvide strategic support for public outreach, including organizing meetings with theGovernor’s partners in government, elected officials and relevant community groupsOversee correspondence with external stakeholdersAdvise the Governor and senior members of the Administration on local issues, politicaldynamics and other matters
Additional Comments Extensive travel within Buffalo required.
