SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The essential function of the position within the organization is to supervise and perform general custodial and grounds maintenance on school campuses or District building sites, ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable learning and working environment. The position is responsible for training, supervising and assisting staff, implementing Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring the prompt and professional response to all work requests, maintaining supply inventory, and performing related work as assigned. The position works independently, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Essential Job Functions:- Plans, assigns, performs and supervises the general custodial and grounds maintenance of District schools and other facilities as assigned.
- Supervises assigned personnel, training, assigning and evaluating work, counseling, disciplining and recommending termination; provides advice and assistance as needed.
- Meets with principals and other staff to advise, plan and implement general maintenance tasks and minor maintenance repairs; Maintains Custodial and Grounds Standard Operating Procedures Processes and Work Schedules.
- Maintains an efficient work order system; receives and supervises the timely completion of all work orders.
- Inspects buildings and grounds; reports all unsafe conditions immediately and repairs or removes unsafe conditions: reports all emergency situations immediately to the appropriate administrator; reports break-in or theft to administrators, security and police. Supervises, performs and/or assists subordinates with maintenance activities, including but not limited to the cleaning of classrooms, restrooms, kitchen facilities, offices, recreational and other areas; performing minor maintenance and repair work such as replacing light bulbs and changing air filters.
- Ensures and assists with the removal of all debris from bleachers, stadium and other areas and facilities following stadium events and school activities for Non SCAA Sanction Events.
- Requests servicing and repairs on building components and systems maintained by other District staff and/or outside vendors, including but not limited to mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and other skilled work; via the maintenance computerized work request system (School Dude).
- Inspects work in progress and completed to ensure compliance with District and department policies, procedures and standard operating procedures for quality and safety.
- May be required to respond to emergency calls; assists in the preparation for and recovery from emergency situations.
- Attends training, seminars and workshops as necessary to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Maintains appropriate equipment and preventative maintenance schedules; initiates repair work as needed.
- Maintains accurate and complete records of work orders request and completion; approves invoices for payment.
- Coordinates and/or performs special duties as assigned.
- Responds to emergency work requests after working hours and on weekends as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Requires High School diploma or GED; four (4) years of experience in building maintenance and Class D Drivers Licenses.
Degree Equivalency Formula:
Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
