Our multi-disciplined team performs assessments of existing buildings to diagnose performance issues and structural damage. Next, we provide repair scopes and design documents to effectively restore buildings. Then, we provide bidding and pre-construction services, work closely with contractors, and provide contract administration to guide owners through the repair process. We specialize in residential and commercial building envelope work ranging from apartments and condominiums to commercial and high-end residential.

About the Role
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Building Envelope Engineer with a passion for forensic work who possesses strong technical skills and will thrive in a collaborative environment. This position requires a Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE) license.
What you"ll do
As a Building Envelope Engineer, you'll be responsible for the following:
- Performing independent and Project Management assigned duties related to structural assessments, design compliance reports, notice of claim reports, and building envelope investigations for both commercial and residential buildings.
- Utilizing your depth of Knowledge in structural and/or building envelope investigations to independently analyze single family residences, residential developments, and commercial properties.
- Acting as the team lead across 5-10 active projects and serving as the in-house support specialist to coordinate tasks, provide client support or education, and effectively mentor and teach team members.
- Conducting forensic field investigations to determine the cause and origin of incidents related to residential and commercial property damage claims and/or construction or design defect claims.
- Developing scopes for remediation and/or design documents for the repair of existing structures.
- Reviewing information to investigate the standards or care pertaining to various participants involved in the design and construction of building projects.
- Communicating technical ideas and conditions accurately to diverse audiences using industry vocabulary as well as layman's terms.
- Preparing clear, concise, cohesive, accurate, and defensible reports.
- Regularly and directly communicating with a variety of clients and managing concurrent projects with varying sizes, scopes, client types, and durations.
- Providing deposition, mediation, arbitration, and/or trial testimony.
- Independently managing time and ensuring deadlines are met.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you should meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher Civil Engineering (with a Structural emphasis) or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering and construction administration.
- Possession of a Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer license in one or more states.
- Working Knowledge of engineering design and analysis, including experience as a structural engineer or architectural engineer.
- Direct Background and experience with residential and/or commercial building forensic engineering, addressing structural, building envelope, compliance reports, claim reports, and building envelope investigations (Preferred).
- Comfort with one-on-one client interactions and speaking to small audiences (virtual & in-person), as well as the willingness and ability to testify in court as required.
- Ability to clearly communicate architectural issues, verbally and in writing, to audiences with varying technical proficiency.
- Strong Knowledge of the residential (IRC), commercial (IBC), and existing (IEBC) I-codes.
- Working skills in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat. Windows operating system experience is preferred.
- In office and field work.

- Ability to attend meetings at various offices, field, and construction sites.
- Willingness and ability to perform observation and evaluation tasks in elevated and exposed conditions.
- Willingness and ability to perform observation and evaluation tasks in narrow, shallow, or confined conditions.
- Ability to sit for extended periods as required to perform design, reporting, and other analysis duties.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle.

The pay range for this role is:
90,000 - 130,000 USD per year(All)
