Consistent with the strategic priorities of Acero Schools and under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Building Manager role has the primary responsibility of supervising the work activities of assigned personnel and building. Work duties include custodial and other miscellaneous tasks in order to ensure that building and facility is maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner. The Building Service Worker may also be responsible for performing additional duties not stated below.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees regular janitorial and maintenance duties in assigned buildings, including self-performance.
- Ensures all janitorial work tasks are completed as scheduled.
- Supervises janitorial staff.
- Accepts instructions from the Acero Schools Facilities Manager verbally or in writing.
- Provides the Acero Schools Facilities Manager with restocking information for disposable
janitorial items.
- Assists, where necessary, students, parents, staff and visiting members of the public who are utilizing the facilities.
- Oversees building recycling program.
- Safely operates all vehicle and other job related equipment: use ladders when required in
work assignments.
- Takes classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products, safety and injury/ illness prevention, and workplace skills.
- Projects a positive image for Acero Schools with building occupants and users.
- Works closely with Acero Schools Facilities Manager to be prepared for unscheduled events,
as needed.
- Ensures facility security by opening/closing the building daily and escorting vendors.
- Works on call as needed at any time for emergency repairs, equipment monitoring, overtime, or special needs failing outside of normal working hours.
- Responds to emergency and security calls regarding vandalism, alarms, broken windows, malfunctioning sprinklers and other calls; reports incident to Supervisor when appropriate.
- Provides input in developing and implementing plans and programs to improve janitorial and maintenance care of facilities.
- Provides input for Acero Schools Facilities Department efficiency and recommends implementation of new janitorial and maintenance techniques, materials and equipment.
- Monitors and manages work requests on the Acero ticketing system.
- Creates purchase orders for approval by Acero Schools Facilities Manager.
- Creates and maintains staff schedules.
- Completes Maintenance/Janitorial Service checklist.
- Participates in emergency drills and environmental safety activities, as requested.
- Attends and participates in Acero Schools pre-service and in-service training sessions held at
School/Facility or elsewhere by Acero Schools.
- Believes in our ability to create the future we envision.
- Other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
- Some training and experience in cleaning services field is desirable.
- Possess knowledge of proper cleaning methods.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing commensurate with the responsibilities of
the position.
- Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking.
- Must be able to safely work in an environment containing caustic chemicals, cleaning materials, dust and noise.
- Routinely required to work under inclement weather conditions.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States (required).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
The nature of the work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files, and an ability to communicate and exchange information. Physical demands include the ability to stand, bend, reach high and low, stoop, and walk around the classroom 60% of the day. In addition, candidates must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20 lbs. for short periods of time, and walk up and down stairs several times a day.
Majority of work is performed in a general school environment. Position requires availability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties. Also requires participation and attendance at organization-sponsored events and meetings.
