Your Opportunity
Stantec's Building Science Group provides planning, design, and construction administration services for a vast array of building types and uses.
We are currently seeking a Building Science Consultant to complement our Building Sciences team in the Portland Office to play a role in the delivery of field reviews for both new construction and rehabilitations, building condition assessment/evaluations, air barrier consulting, project management, and renewal planning. Due to expanding business opportunities within the company, this position offers significant potential for growth in the areas of technical/professional development and project management.
Your Key Responsibilities
+ Performs periodic site visits and utilizes a site visit reporting system to identify and update action items
+ Performs field testing to confirm building enclosure performance (water, air leakage, EFVM, infrared testing, etc.)
+ Manages and coordinates small and large projects
+ Conducts business development to secure revenue-generating projects
+ Client management
+ Prepares proposals and establishes project financial budgets
+ Mentors junior staff
+ Participates in continuing education
+ Perform drawing reviews, specification reviews and submittal reviews
+ Represent MH at mock-up reviews, periodic site observations and field testing
+ Represent MH at client external meetings
+ Interface with architects, general contractors, and sub-trades.
+ Undertake assessments with Technical Lead involvement on site with assessment of existing buildings and the preparation of building envelope assessment reports
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
+ Excellent knowledge of Rain Screen principles, Air Barriers and Thermal Performance
+ Organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks on multiple projects
+ Project management experience
+ Ability to work in a team environment
+ Strong customer service commitment
+ Excellent communication and documentation skills
+ Professional attitude
+ Commitment to succeed
+ Pursuing registration either as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect is a plus
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD is desirable.
+ Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
Education and Experience
Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or a related field, preferably with a background in Building Science
Minimum of 5 years experience in building science consultation or equivalent knowledge of building envelope systems
Registration either as a Professional Engineer, Registered Architect or Consultant designation with RCI is desirable
