Overview: Our client is looking for a Business Analyst for a REMOTE position based out of Richmond, VA.
Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for enterprise-wide business analysis of web applications for the Office of Information Management (OIM) and its customers. This position will work closely with multiple stakeholders, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and development teams to document business requirements, coordinate with cross functional team members.
- Create documentation such as design specifications, release planning, create test plan and test scripts.
- Work closely with the development team for all system changes. Perform end to end testing and document results.
- The Business Analyst will report to the Systems Manager and closely collaborate with the project manager to ensure business requirements, enhancements, modifications, and newly identified business initiatives are thoroughly documented for successful implementation of Information Technology solutions.
- Working with customers and project management team to develop business requirements in response to requests for systems enhancements, modifications, and newly identified business initiatives
- Working with technical team and vendor to ensure requirements are incorporated into systems design and testing
- Evaluating alternative strategies and making recommendations for viable solutions that are compatible with current technologies and systems
- Developing requirements documentation, business flow diagrams, prototypes and mockups
- Create business artifacts such as Use Cases, User Stories, Functional and Non-Functional Requirements.
- Create Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams, Activity Diagrams, Navigational Flows
- Facilitate Joint Requirement Planning (JRP)sessions with Business User Groups
- Conduct Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions with project team members
- Actively participating in functional and systems integration unit testing; developing test plans and test scripts based on the requirements.
- Provide assistance and training to customers with testing throughout the testing phases in all environments.
- Facilitate problem solving sessions by bringing the right group of people together and identify innovative solutions
- Providing implementation and maintenance support
- Meeting regularly with customers, interact with users by interviewing them, conduct walkthroughs with developers and stakeholders
- Proactively making suggestions for systems and process improvement and performing competitive, problem, and opportunity analysis, emphasizing integration, experimentation, creative brainstorming, early complexity assessment, and capturing results in the form of a business case to propose a new change initiative
- Keep Systems Manager and Project Manager informed of key issues that may impact project implementation
- Facilitate project conference calls, status meetings, planning sessions, and provide for meeting notes
- Utilizing system-based project management applications, collaboration applications, and MS Office applications; Visio, SharePoint, Google Meets, Teams, etc.
- Coordinate with Systems Manager and agency security team to ensure all security requirements are documented and implemented in the system. ?
- Manage all security project conference calls, status meetings, planning sessions, and provide for meeting notes
Requirements:
- Knowledge of relational databases (SQL), system development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, quality assurance techniques, and change management procedures.
- Demonstrates skill in project planning, requirements gathering, business analysis, business process mapping, procedural writing, process engineering, problem-solving, active listening, negotiation, conflict resolution, group visitation, written and oral communication, organization and time management, and presentation skills.
- Able to manage, coordinate, and prioritize multiple activities concurrently with limited supervision and to adjust efficiently and effectively to changing priorities.
- Knowledge of business process engineering methods.
- Knowledge and experience using multiple project management methodologies such as Waterfall, Iterative, and Agile.
- Ability to blend methodologies together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
- Must be able to operate effectively in a changing environment with multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to follow-through.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands.
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Information Systems or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
