Job Description: Business Analyst
The BA serves as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization and partners with business areas to identify, interpret, analyze, clarify and document business requirements. The BA is responsible for creating the Business Requirements Document (BRD),Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM), Use Cases, and User Acceptance Test Plan.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leads conversations with key stakeholders to elicit requirements
Creates visual models to enable collective understanding of processes, data flow, user interaction, and others as needed
Facilitates the analysis of what needs to be done to bring the business (or part of it) to a desired future state
Analyzes the business to identify capability gaps and/or opportunities
Manages the communication and clarification of requirements between the business and the development team(s)
Collaborates with clients to prioritize business requirements
Leads analysis effort and develops detailed user, business, and functional requirements including the exploration of viable options and alternatives
Responsible for development of Business Requirements Document (BRD), Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM), Use Cases, and User Acceptance Test Plans
Responsible for consistent on-time delivery of quality deliverables in accordance with agreed upon plans
Works closely with the Technical Systems Analysts (TSA) to translate business requirements to technical specs
Partners with the development team to validate that solution component meet business requirements
Develops expertise to navigate and engage the GI IT Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology within the GI IT Plan/Build/Run model
Endorses a winning culture with a repeatable, process-based approach in which all members of the organization recognize the interdependence of the Plan/Build/Run model and their role in effectively delivering for the business customers
On occasion, fills in for the Senior BA or assume lead responsibilities on smaller projects
Other duties and / or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree required
Domain experience in Group Insurance or in a relevant industry
Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in requirements gathering and documentation
Demonstrated skills in Requirements Elicitation, Facilitation, and Modeling,
Knowledge of different SDLC Methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, etc)
Ability to translate complicated concepts into easily understood terms
Excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills
Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills
Able to exercise independent judgment and take action on it
Ability to resolve complex problems with minimal assistance
Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail
Skill at resolving conflict and negotiating effectively and tactfully
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
Demonstrates a Strong Moral Compass
Takes Intelligent Risks
Highly self-motivated and directed
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
IIBA Certification (CCBA, CBAP) desired
