About the Job
The Business Applications Analyst (BAA) is an expert problem solver and has a demonstrated problem solving skill set. The BAA is the primary technical resource for assigned applications. The BAA establishes and maintains a consultative partnership with business area/users, provides day-to-day support for business applications, and provides administration and vendor relations for assign applications.
Supports and works with development, test and production environments. Develop and maintains partnerships with supported vendors. Serves as primary contact and resource between end users and the technical staff and works with both groups to understand business needs, problem solve, and troubleshoot issues identified. Strong communication skills are required to effectively interface with technical and
non-technical users and vendors.
- (30%)*Performs problem solving duties and is able to write and communicate business reports using common problem solving tools. Monitors databases for business applications to optimize performance, resource use, and physical implementations of databases/systems. Maintains development, test, and production environments. Performs quality control and auditing of databases and system data to ensure appropriate use and accuracy of data.
- (20%)* Responsible for problem management, including troubleshooting, resolution of reported problems, and performance and documentation of root cause analysis.
- (20%)*Leads and works with end users on appropriate access, upgrades, maintenance, data conflicts, data extracts, and data integration with applications. Liaises with vendor support on all issues.
- (20%)*Tests, debugs, implements, and documents programs. This includes development of test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs.
- (10%)*Other associated application management, maintenance, and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide excellent customer service to all customers while performing duties. Understands and demonstrates ability to perform business problem solving tools and processes.

Certifications and Licensures:No certifications or licensure required for this position.
Required Education:Bachelors Degree required
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Health Care or STEM related field required.
**A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Other Information:EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS
Minimum three (3) years of experience managing or supporting an application or series of applications, including configuration, release, upgrades and project management.
Must demonstrate technical troubleshooting methodology and background. Knowledge and experience reviewing application logs and resolving technical problems without assistance strongly preferred.
Familiarity with a server-based database system preferred. Managing business healthcare applications preferred.
Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate at multiple organization levels across the health system as required.
Demonstrated abilities to lead projects, work effectively and carefully under pressure, meet project deadlines, learn independently, work effectively in a team, communicate effectively with a variety of people and write well are required.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills are required.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis. Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
