Risk Management Services’ programs provide proactive support for the strategic, operational, and financial foundation of the University of North Texas. We help identify, analyze, and mitigate risks to prevent loss and provide a safe and healthy campus environment so that the UNT community can freely pursue opportunities for growth and advancement. To achieve our goals, we work together with the UNT community to help them proactively manage risks, implement preventative measures, plan for their challenges, and work through any issues that occur.
Position Overview
This role plays a vital part in ensuring the University of North Texas (UNT) System's preparedness and swift recovery from disruptive events and is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and testing of a comprehensive Business Continuity program across the entire system. This includes collaborating with member universities, conducting risk assessments, delivering training, and facilitating exercises to ensure system-wide resilience.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in emergency management or related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Knowledge of five phases of emergency management and National Incident Management System (NIMS).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work with various disciplines across a diverse organization.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Understanding of business continuity principles in higher education.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- To be entered by department.
- Assist with the development, review, and update of the UNT System Business Continuity Framework Plan, ensuring it aligns with the needs of each member university.
- Assist member universities with developing and maintaining their individual Business Continuity Plans (BCP), providing guidance and best practices to ensure consistency and alignment with the system-wide program.
- Review and provide feedback on BCPs developed by member universities.
- Develop and deliver training and workshops on business continuity planning for university staff across the system.
- Design and facilitate tabletop exercises and simulations to test the effectiveness of BCPs for the University System and member universities.
- Conduct, coordinate, and review after-action reviews (AARs) of exercises and actual events, documentation of lessons learned and recommended improvements to emergency operations plans and procedures.
- Liaise with key stakeholders across the University System and member universities on business continuity matters.
- Participate in the development and implementation of system-wide risk management strategies.
- Assists with response and recovery efforts during and after incidents.
- Serve as Duty Officer on a rotational basis, which requires 24/7 availability,
- Responds to emergencies and assist with large scale special events during non-business hours; including nights, weekends, and possible holidays.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm Standard / After hours and weekend availability based on Duty Officer schedule
