Job Summary and Qualifications
The Parallon Business Continuity Planning Senior Manager will work under the direction of a Parallon BCP leaders or higher position and assist project management staff with the planning, execution, and ongoing improvement of Parallon Business Continuity Planning (BCP) program. Typical duties include work plan and project delivery assistance, coordinating assigned project activities, collaborating with project team members, utilizing standard project controls and standards to help ensure projects successfully meet their stated objectives, and support of the monitoring of progress toward project delivery achievement. The Parallon Business Continuity Planning Senior Manager is responsible for BCP program activities to help prepare Parallon to successfully protect patients, employees, communities, and assets in the face of emergencies by providing management with tools and guidance necessary for risk assessment, contingency planning and disaster recovery, using technology to standardize and improve efficiency, monitoring and management reporting in support of our Parallon BCP program.
What you will do in this role:
- Oversees the development, implementation, testing, education, and maintenance of the Parallon Business Continuity Program (BCP) by performing various BCP roles representing Parallon within the larger HCA Healthcare Enterprise BCP and Emergency Operations programs.
- Works within the framework of the HCA Healthcare and Parallon Business Continuity program processes, protocols, and documentation, utilizing standards tools and processes.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for business continuity planning by demonstrating strong knowledge of the following: o Business risk evaluation and controls, particularly the risks as related to Parallon’s operations and related business continuity planning
- Business impact analysis
- Business continuity strategy development
- Emergency response and operations
- Satisfactorily complete assigned business continuity, emergency operations management, and other applicable skills training as necessary.
- Identifies and implements performance and process improvement opportunities including but not limited to business continuity management processes and controls, business operations area improvement opportunities, and communications improvement opportunities.
- Staying informed on HCA Healthcare and Parallon company-wide initiatives and effectively evaluating the impact of those initiatives on Parallon’s business continuity program.
- Serving as the subject matter expert and administrator within Parallon for BCP technologies, including AssuranceCM, CodeReady, HCA Alerts, StormGeo, Dataminr, and other Parallon BCP supporting technologies, as it relates to support of Parallon BCP operations. This technology system knowledge and support may include the following: o Understanding system capabilities and ensuring the systems are used correctly as effectively as possible
- Overseeing security access and ensuring appropriate access is set-up for all applicable Parallon users.
- Overseeing system reporting and understanding the capabilities and limitations.
- Overseeing, developing, and implementing system efficiencies.
- Overseeing and resolving technical issues reported by Parallon BCP user groups.
- Managing relationships with HCA Healthcare emergency operations and BCP leaders, as well as vendor representatives, and following up product enhancement requests as necessary.
- Facilitating the development of Parallon BCP program standards and ensuring all Parallon-related business continuity plans are documented and meet those standards.
- Overseeing, coordinating, and assisting lines of business with the development, publication and maintenance of business continuity plans in AssuranceCM. Includes interacting with Parallon leadership and functional leads regarding business continuity plans, and following up with plan owners regarding outdated plans or other anomalies noted in plans as applicable.
- Working with Parallon leadership and functional leads across Parallon to promote business continuity planning and emergency preparedness to ensure a high level of awareness regarding business continuity risks and planning, as well as appropriate preparedness of personnel during an event or a disaster.
- Planning, facilitation, documentation and supporting Parallon functional areas and operating centers regarding the development and execution of emergency preparedness and business continuity planning exercises (e.g. annual table-top exercises).
- Overseeing updates to various Parallon BCP-related sites, instant messaging, and distribution lists, including SharePoint, Webex, and other company-intranet sites as necessary.
- Responsible for communicating, documenting and tracking actionable post-BCP incident lessons learned (via Hot wash / After Action Reviews), and tracking actionable items to completion.
- Continually developing subject matter and technical knowledge in emergency preparedness and business continuity planning.
- Provided Parallon BCP incident support when the HCA Healthcare Enterprise Emergency Operations Center (EEOC) is activated, and provides assistance to help ensure the center is staffed (in person or virtually) the duration of a significant business disruption and/or disaster.
- Staying informed on general business and economic developments, and effectively evaluating the impact of those developments on Parallon’s business continuity program.
- Staying informed on regulatory changes, monitoring the business continuity program as it relates to audit and regulatory compliance to help identify any potential gaps.
- Assists Parallon and BCP leaders with other projects as requested.
What qualifications you will need:
- BS or BA degree preferred; Accounting, Business, Finance, or Healthcare Administration degrees a plus.
- Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP) a plus.
- Experience in healthcare, healthcare or general management or finance is preferred.
- 7+ years’ experience and training in emergency operations, business continuity planning, risk management and disaster recovery assessment and planning or other relevant experience preferred.
- 3 years of management experience preferred.
- College graduate required.
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
