Fresh Baguette is a fast-growing, artisanal bakery known for its high-quality standards and modern atmosphere. The company was founded in Bethesda, MD in 2013, to bring fresh, made-from-scratch organic breads, pastries, sweets, and croissant items inspired by bakeries in France to the DMV area. We have expanded to seven retail locations, two production bakeries, and a thriving wholesale business. We serve coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, and grocery stores with fresh products every day, 365 days a year .

Location: Germantown, MD (with travel in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia as needed)
Reports to: Retail Operation Manager
Salary: Starting at $65,000/year

Position Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic Business Developer with a focus on project development and expansion. This role is ideal for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset, capable of managing multiple projects at once and developing them with little guidance. While experience is valued, the right mindset and attitude are key to success in this position. The Business Developer will be instrumental in two main missions: expanding our catering business and new location openings.
Key Responsibilities
1. New Location Expansion:
- Site Targeting & Selection: Identify and pre-select potential new retail locations based on company guidelines, conducting site visits to assess feasibility and profitability.
- Store Construction & Opening: Oversee the construction process for new locations, ensuring plans are followed, addressing issues with senior management, and assisting with store openings.
- Operations Optimization: Regularly review and recommend improvements to enhance customer experience, operational efficiency, and overall performance.
2. Catering Business Development:
- Catering Operations: Oversee all incoming catering orders, ensuring smooth operations, especially for large orders over $1,000.
- Action Plans for Large Orders: Develop and execute detailed action plans for large catering events, coordinating with internal teams and ensuring flawless execution.
- Client Engagement: Respond to all quote requests, follow up on potential business opportunities, and maintain strong relationships with past clients and event organizers.
- External Event Management: Act as a brand ambassador at events, including collaborations with organizations like FACC, while ensuring smooth coordination with event venues.
- Marketing Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team to develop and execute catering-specific promotional strategies.
- Catering Reporting: Track and report on catering performance, identifying growth opportunities, and keeping the menu updated to reflect client needs and market trends.
Qualifications:
- Mindset: Strong entrepreneurial spirit with a self-starter mentality. Ability to manage multiple projects independently and ensure their growth.
- Experience: Relevant experience project management is preferred, but the right mindset is more critical.
- Skills: Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to lead projects, and develop long-term business strategies.
- Adaptability: Willingness to travel as needed and handle diverse projects simultaneously.
- Collaboration: Ability to work well with other teams (e.g., marketing, operations) and senior management to achieve business goals.
Requirements:
- Authorization to work without sponsorship now or in the future
- Reliable transportation to travel as needed
- 3 years of Project Management experience
- 3 years of experience in the retail industry is preferred
- Project Management Certification is a plus
