Job Summary: The Business Development Associate will be responsible for identifying and qualifying opportunities as both Prime and Subcontractor, collecting business intelligence, maintaining and expanding business and customer relationships, and managing the opportunity pipeline and capture lifecycle.
Essential Functions:
Business Development:
- Attend various forums related to the company's business interests, such as industry days and association meetings.
- Stay informed about changes in government contracting, government spending, and potential contracting opportunities.
- Develop, maintain, and advance client and potential partner relationships through contacts and interactions to promote the company.
- Develop and maintain a business pipeline based on company strategic goals.
- Analyze draft and final Federal solicitations posted to Government contract portals such as GovWin, SAM, FedBizOps, and FPDS to identify and qualify opportunities based on company criteria and priorities.
- Manage Business Development / Pipeline activities through CRM tools such as Insightly and Salesforce.
- Identify required business intelligence for pursuit opportunities and obtain necessary information.
- Conduct market analysis, competitive landscape assessment, and research.
- Prepare assessment presentations for bid/no-bid decisions.
- Maintain and provide capture activity and pipeline status and plans to management.
Capture:
- Develop specific capture plans for opportunities and keep them current.
- Develop marketing and capture strategies and plans, and implement them.
- Conduct gap analysis from pre-solicitation information and develop teaming strategies as required.
- Participate in and lead strategy development sessions with the capture team.
- Identify and execute shaping, vetting, and ghosting activities.
- Initiate NDAs and TAs as required to support team development and manage relationships through the proposal process.
- Coordinate capture efforts with the proposal team, solutions group, pricing, human resources, contracting, and other company organizations to deliver successful capture activities.
Required Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of federal sector Business Development experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Excel, and various internet search engines and databases
- Knowledge of Federal acquisition systems, budgeting processes, contracts, and regulations (including FAR)
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills; diplomatic and persuasive communication style
- Analytical problem solver with strong time management, organization, and attention to detail
- Experience in market research, proposal development, and understanding RFPs
- Proficient in building and maintaining relationships with government officials and stakeholders; strong networking skills
- Basic project management knowledge to oversee business development projects
- Strategic thinker able to develop and implement strategies aligning with federal agency goals
- Familiarity with CRM software and other business development tools
- Effective team collaborator with sales, marketing, and product development teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, communications, or a related field.
