Business Development Consultant
The Business Development Consultant is integral to History Factory’s business development process, collaborating with a small cross-functional team and working closely with our BD leads to address prospective clients' needs and opportunities. This role requires a strong understanding of History Factory’s business model, value proposition, and capabilities, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing our core client base, which is comprised primarily of marketing and communications functions of global enterprises. The position is remote eligible with a preference for Washington, D.C. hybrid preferred.

Responsibilities
- Needs Analysis
- Participate in prospective client meetings to understand prospective client’s requirements
- Assist business development lead in assessing needs and effectively communicating recommended services and products to prospective clients
- Assist business development lead in earning trust, developing relationships rooted in expertise, and serving prospective clients’ best interests
- Recommendations Development
- Collaborate with the business development team to develop recommendations aligned with prospective clients’ needs, opportunities, and History Factory’s capabilities and interests
- Work with BD and marketing teams to create compelling proposals, presentations, and other content to effectively expedite the decision-making cycle
- Ensure all content is explicit, accurate, and aligns with the prospective client's needs as well as History Factory’s operational capabilities
- Work with a cross-functional team to develop detailed and accurate SOWs, ensuring all aspects are clearly defined and aligned with client expectations
- Develop pricing models and cost estimates for proposed solutions, ensuring competitiveness and profitability
- Client On-boarding and Continuous Improvement
- Assist business development lead in managing prospective clients’ decision-making process.
- Work closely with business development, account management, creative, and archives teams to ensure a seamless transition to project kickoff and implementation
- Collaborate with the finance and executive teams to ensure accurate and transparent pricing and pricing models
- Gather and analyze client feedback via account management and other means to continuously improve offerings and sales strategies
- Contribute to ongoing development and improvement of marketing and sales collateral.
- Contribute to ongoing development and improvement of business development processes and operations
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales support, proposal development, or a related role within a creative agency or professional services firm
- Proven conceptual sales experience developing tailored solutions and detailed SOWs for clients.
- Experience and familiarity with a combination of marketing and communications, software as a service, history, and archives (and understanding their application and value in a business context) are highly desirable.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of sales processes and the ability to develop strategic solutions that meet client needs.
- Excellent writing and content development skills, with the ability to create clear, compelling proposals and presentations.
- Proficiency in developing pricing models and cost estimates.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal teams.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to understand and address client needs and challenges.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
