Position Overview: IDEAL has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced and capable Business Development Manager. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for overseeing our large government contracts and the implementation of business objectives related to sales, marketing, vendor management and compliance. The BD Representative will manage a group of Sales Consultants and Inside Sales Representatives to drive growth to various contract vehicles. BD Representative will develop and manage our large Vendor Partner Network related to our products, solutions and services portfolio.
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and implement account plans and business development strategy within the various government agencies and solutions portfolio
- Develop new sales areas and improving sales through various methods
- Train Inside Sales Representatives and Sales Consultants related to contract goals and objectives, available resources and solutions
- Oversight and management of contract program to include compliance and reporting.
- Identify and recommend strategic partners (both vendors and other service providers) that allow us to deliver a complete solution or augment our capabilities;
- Direct Sales and Indirect Sales Program development and management
- Research the latest in the business industry and creating new opportunities to expand business
- Collaborate with sales and design team to ensure requirements are met, such as sales numbers and profit goals
- Strong understanding of company products or services as well as business position and competition to keep business competitive
- Continually acquire and evaluate agency procurement forecasts, programs and opportunities and understand the mission of the respective agency and its organizational components, leadership, major programs and their major challenges;
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and seminars to maintain deep understanding of market segment and customer environment in addition to establishing new relationships;
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and Statements of Work to new and existing clients;
- Work with SE’s and Project Managers to ensure goals, objective and timelines are met
- Assist Marketing with ongoing strategic marketing plans
Abilities and Attributes Needed for the Position
- Proven track record of successful government business development and program management within state and federal government, education and non-profit
- Possess strong knowledge of various technology solutions and emerging technologies such as cyber security, networks, data centers, Cloud Computing, IT Asset management and other IT support services
- Experience with government wide acquisition vehicles or cooperative purchasing agreements
- Knowledge and experience with program management, program planning and execution;
- Vendor negotiations and management;
- Experience with vendor and IT channel management
- Complex selling by utilizing a consultative approach
- Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit
- Strong tactical and strategic business abilities
- Proficiency in networking, prospecting and building relationships
- Strong presentation, problem-solving and communication skills
- Strong commitment to quality and service
- Experience related to government contracts and subcontracts including Federal & Defense Industry Contracting with an understanding of FAR/DFAR language;
- Proficiency in Bid and Proposal preparation and oversight to include technical writing, pricing, and team alignment
- Superior time management and organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and handle a broad range of daily activities;
- Excellent computer and typing skills
- Knowledge and experience with multiple government agencies to include state, local, education, non-profit and federal
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years technology business development and program management experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Experience in government contracts and subcontracts including Federal & Defense Industry Contracting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
- Ability to travel as needed
