The position of Business Development Manager is one of the most important positions within the company because it is 100% customer facing. This role becomes the face of General Informatics. It is important that the highest degree of knowledge and professionalism is always maintained, while focusing on customer development. A successful Business Development Manager will have various prerequisite skills and qualifications including impeccable selling and prospecting skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as a thorough knowledge of the industry and the General Informatics Services Portfolio is a must. Consistently demonstrates, “Can Do – Will Do” attitude.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage the sales cycle from qualified lead to customer.
- Complete understanding of prospects exact need, budget and timeline will be an essential element to success.
- Gain a confident working knowledge of how technology can solve prospect’s business challenges.
- Work effectively with colleagues, vendors and partners to find opportunities for new revenue.
- Identify current objections upfront in the process.
- Prepare and present proposals/quotes to decision makers for closure.
- Breakdown a procurement cycle from start to finish step by step.
- Utilize all systems available to identify contacts, forecasting, pipeline management, and leverage reports to drive business, create quotes, generate revenue.
- Negotiate favorable pricing and business terms by selling value and ROI.
- Collaboratively leverage all internal resources including product management, customer care, sales engineering, and partner services.
- Utilize our sales methodology and processes.
- Manage existing customer expectations while expanding reach and depth into the assigned territory.
- Maintain and grow sales pipeline to consistently meet sales goals.
- Strong initiative and attendance in network opportunities, events/conferences required.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- 2+ years of direct selling experience, preferred experience in technology sales
- Deep experience building relationships with a track record of listening and understanding the
- prospective buyers need is essential.
- Well versed in Microsoft Office suite and CRM tools
- Must maintain a high degree of professionalism in dress, appearance, and communication.
- Pipeline development methodology
- Detailed understanding of forecasting accuracy
- Exceptional personal management, interpersonal, written, and presentation skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high growth, rapidly changing environment that requires urgency to execute opportunities.
- This position will work in office with some travel to make sales calls. No overnight travel is required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Business Management or Sales
- Training in Sales frameworks is a plus such as Challenger, Sandler or Consultative Selling
- Certified Sales Executive (CSE) or Certified Professional Sales Leader (CPSL) preferred
The pay range for this position is expected to be between $45,0000 and $75,000/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, Paid Time Off, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
