Overview:Research new markets and opportunities, curate new business, and maintain a database of business development materials to improve company performance and processes.
Responsibilities:Leadership and Direction
- Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution. Receive direction as needed, and especially complex assignments, modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria. Work is completed using advanced techniques and principles and is reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound professional judgement. May review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance.
- Position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities but serves an experienced and learned professional contributing to critical business and operational needs.
At the Operational and Company Level
- Continually market the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships.
Do the Work
- Write, prepare, layout, and produce qualifications packages, proposals, presentation materials, award submissions, and competition entries.
- Initiate conversations with potential clients via phone and email outreach.
- Perform regular searches to identify new ways of reaching prospective clients.
- Maintain a pipeline of interested prospects and follow up with regular outreach.
- Demonstrate, map, and integrate disparate AEC technologies to solve design workflow inefficiencies that supports client’s goals.
- Perform in-depth assessments to investigate, uncover, and understand a client’s business issues and how Bowman can meet those needs.
- Present proposed solutions and relate them to the client’s business issues and goals.
- Perform analysis and lead discovery of adjacent opportunities.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, architecture, or related industry required.
- Five or more (5+) years of experience in a professional business development role.
- Minimum three (3) years of practical experience in the AEC industry.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience as a sales assistant, lead generator, or a direct sales role.
- Professional registration (P.E, etc.) and industry accreditations (LEED AP) required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite (with strong InDesign experience).
- Demonstrated layout and production skills.
- Knowledge of HTML, Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks is preferred.
- May be eligible for hybrid or remote work arrangements.
- Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
- Mobility around an office environment.
- Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- May require local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
