Job Purpose:
The Business Intelligence Developer role is to strategically design and implement BI software and systems, including integration with databases and data warehouses. This role is heavily dependent on Power BI report development and converting existing Cognos reports in Power BI Reporting. The BI Developer should be also able to troubleshoot existing Cognos reports as part of BI Team responsibility. Understanding the key levers in our business and driving optimization and growth. As an integral member of the Data & Analytics Team and ultimately leading a team, you will be responsible for helping key business stakeholders make better, data-driven decisions to continue maximizing MHA’s value to the members. This includes selecting, blueprinting, gathering requirements, designing, and rolling out BI solutions to end users.
What You’ll Be Doing
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- BI developer is primarily developing new reports, enhancing existing reports and providing solutions to complex queries and questions from MHA’s user community.
- Monitors, investigates, troubleshoots and resolves. Coordinates with vendors and partners to resolve complex issues related to Cognos reports and Power BI Reporting.
- Drive pragmatic approaches to solving key complex business problems through business intelligence tools such as Cognos, Power BI and SQL Server.
- Understanding of data modeling practices and techniques in Power BI Semantic Models and Data Sets.
- Grow the technical environment by bringing new technologies and techniques to create efficient processes around data extraction, aggregation and analytics.
- Collaborate with clients to better understand needs and provide POC for software solutions using Power BI
- Use of new Business Intelligence software tools including Power BI reports, Semantic models, paginated reports and power automate.
- Design, code, test all new or modified BI systems, applications, and programs using SQL server, Power BI or MS Fabric.
- Document specifications for business intelligence reports
- Collaborate with business intelligence team in development and analyzing the business processes. Quickly understands the business issues, strengths, weaknesses and data challenges.
- Strong T-SQL database development skills

What You’ll Bring to the Table:
Minimum Qualifications & Competencies:
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
- Should have hands on 5 to 7 years of experience with Power BI, MS Fabric, Cognos 11.x
- Should have hands experience on database development using SQL Server and can troubleshoot SQL queries efficiently.
- SQL Server, T-SQL, query optimization tools and techniques, data modelling techniques, and relational database design
- Experience architecting and building Data Warehouses, DataMarts
- Understanding of data modeling, data driven insight, data quality and governance
- Strong technical background, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and capable of delivering under aggressive timelines
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Looking for self-motivated candidates who are hands on at their current positions and have hunger to learn new technologies
- Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Capable of incident resolution during major incident process
- Good time management and prioritization skills; self-starters especially welcome
- Maturity and ability to take responsibility for gathering additional information on requirements and design to effectively establish testing for the applications and processes
- Dedicated to excellence in quality, reliability, and thoroughness in all work tasks; detail-oriented with consistent follow-through
- Knowledge of emerging technologies
- Sisense experience or knowledge is a plus
