Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Director of Finance to oversee front-end financial responsibilities within our skilled nursing facility. This leadership role involves ensuring all residents have valid payer sources, directly managing Medicaid applications and recertifications, overseeing overdue accounts, and supporting efficient office operations. The Director of Finance will engage in financial interactions with residents and families, foster a compliant environment, and closely collaborate with corporate on collections and Medicaid reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Management:
- Lead, mentor, and supervise the Financial Services staff, ensuring accountability and fostering a professional, customer-focused environment.
- Monitor individual and team performance to achieve accurate and timely completion of financial tasks.
Payer and Financial Validation:
- Oversee the verification of resident payer sources, ensuring all residents have valid insurance or alternative payment arrangements.
- Coordinate with admissions and other departments to complete financial interviews, admission agreements, and verify payer eligibility before resident admission.
Accounts Management:
- Oversee the processing of overdue accounts, working closely with the corporate team to facilitate collections and ensure timely payments.
Direct Involvement in Facility Operations:
- Morning Reports: Attend daily Morning Reports to stay informed on resident statuses and collaborate with department heads.
- Utilization Management Meetings: Attend Utilization Management meetings to ensure residents receive the appropriate level of care and manage related financial implications.
- Guardianship Hearings: Represent the facility at Guardianship hearings as necessary to protect the legal and financial interests of residents.
Resident & Family Communication:
- Clearly communicate billing policies and financial expectations to residents and families through face-to-face interactions, emails, and mailed statements.
- Address and resolve billing inquiries, providing clarity and support to ensure a positive experience.
Medicaid Compliance & Application Processing:
- Manage the Medicaid application and recertification process, handling the preparation, submission, and follow-up for all required documentation.
- Maintain consistent communication with the Corporate Medicaid Processing Department, providing status updates and reports on Medicaid applications and recertifications.
Education & Training:
- Develop and educate Financial Services staff on policies, procedures, and best practices, promoting high accountability across the department.
General Office Management:
- Oversee day-to-day office operations, including filing, data entry, and paperwork processing. Ensure accuracy and consistency across all office functions.
Corporate & Departmental Coordination:
- Collaborate with various departments to provide consistent resident financial coverage and support facility financial compliance requirements.
Confidential Reporting & Data Management:
- Prepare confidential financial reports and maintain accurate, up-to-date records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with all relevant policies and regulations.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in a healthcare finance or billing office, preferably within a skilled nursing facility.
- Leadership & Organizational Skills: Strong leadership capabilities with a focus on managing staff, prioritizing financial responsibilities, and maintaining data accuracy.
- Customer Service Excellence: Outstanding communication skills to effectively interact with residents and families.
- Collaborative Team Player: Ability to work seamlessly with other departments to support financial management and compliance.
