Job Title: Business Systems Analyst I
General Description:
The Business Systems Analyst I is responsible for collaborating with various business units to translate their needs into high-quality software solutions. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing these solutions using Agile Software development practices. Additionally, the analyst provides operational support for enterprise-wide software solutions. Working closely with software vendors and business units, the analyst aims to leverage technology to enhance products, services, and business processes. A comprehensive understanding of the Credit Union’s enterprise-wide software solutions is essential.
We are looking for a Business Systems Analyst with a robust background in enterprise software solutions to manage our Business Services technology stack. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in application support and project management, particularly with platforms such as DNA, Baker Hill, and Amount. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation and strategic development of our core banking and lending products for Business Services. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle for enterprise-wide software solutions, including reviewing, analyzing, and documenting business unit needs.
- Facilitate efficient and effective joint business/IT requirements and solution discussions, as well as stakeholder review meetings.
- Provide high-quality analytical system solutions for key stakeholders.
- Identify software functional gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with product owners to create product backlogs using Agile practices.
- Create user stories with relevant acceptance criteria.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert throughout project implementation.
- Participate in scrum events such as daily scrums, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint retrospectives, and reviews.
- Support Agile practices and encourage service improvement.
- Design, create, and document process flows, technical requirements, specifications, diagrams, scenarios, mockups, and models for the development team using tools like Visio, MS Word, Excel, PDF, and SharePoint.
- Provide Tier 2 application support to maintain day-to-day business operations, resolving internal tickets promptly.
- Manage and support software upgrades, troubleshoot issues, assist in triage, and assess risks.
- Handle administrative functions such as customizing forms, fields, reports, and creating saved searches, dashboards, workflows, role-based access management, and reporting support.
- Resolve business line application requests or reported issues through effective listening, positive action, information gathering, and ticket escalation.
- Keep application users informed on progress and resolution of reported issues, aligning with internal service level agreements.
- Collaborate with third-party service providers and internal technical teams to address software needs and production issues.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with business lines, internal technical teams, and third-party service providers.
- Participate in on-call support for critical after-hours application impairments or major outages as needed.
Physical Skills and Abilities:
- Strong oral and written communication skills for technical analysis and interaction with Credit Union staff, management, and vendor partners.
- Adaptability to promote and enable change for improved ways of working.
- Understanding of Agile-based development practices.
- Manual dexterity to operate online computer terminals and standard office equipment.
- Ability to make sound decisions without detailed instructions.
- Multitasking, working under pressure, and meeting tight deadlines; may require extended hours.
- Proven ability to develop, document, and maintain operational policies and procedures, including detailed technical process flows and operational performance and quality metrics.
Organizational Contacts and Relationships:
- Internal: All Credit Union Staff
- External: Vendors, suppliers, government agencies, industry associations, and peers at other financial institutions.
Qualifications:
- Education: Minimum two-year degree in Information Technology, Project Management, or Business Administration, or 2 years of experience. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Information Technology, Engineering, Management, or related field preferred with 2+ years of experience. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a 2-year degree. Agile certifications preferred.
- Experience: Four years or more in financial or health services, including technical business analysis, product development, and process improvement. Experience in an Agile environment or Azure ecosystem (DevOps) is strongly desired.
- Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of financial industry concepts, practices, and guidelines.
- Familiarity with Credit Union products, services, and operational guidelines.
- Excellent oral communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
- Strong research, technical analysis, planning, and organizational skills.
- Logical reasoning for interpreting facts.
- Experience with medium to large enterprise software systems and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Ability to analyze and document complex technical business processes.
- Ability to make observations, evaluations, and recommendations.
- Ability to execute projects and direct team members for system upgrades and enhancements.
- Strong PC skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Carry and respond to a cell phone 7 days a week. May need to diagnose problems from home and occasionally travel to site to correct issues.
- Prolonged sitting with occasional mobility required.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
- Ability to lift 20 lbs. as required.
- Occasional movement throughout the department to interact with staff and accomplish tasks.
- Occasional travel locally, statewide, and throughout the United States for seminars and vendor meetings. Overnight travel and evening schedules included.
- Occasionally required to change work hours or work long hours, including weekends, to complete tasks.
