In support of the Agency as a whole, the Business Analysis group leverages financial analytic tools to facilitate data collection management, data analysis, advanced analytic studies tool development, metrics, and forecasting
This organization provides cost/financial data and analyses to enable senior leader resource decision making
The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position.\n\nDegree must be in a Business Field (for example, Program Management, Business Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, and Economics) or a Technical Field (for example, Engineering, Systems Management, Computer Science, and Information Technology).\n\nFULL PERFORMANCE\nEntry is with a high school diploma or GED plus 7 years of relevant experience, an Associate's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree and no experience
\n\nRelevant experience must include one or more of the following: business, finance, computer programming, or management information systems.\n\nSENIOR \nEntry is with a high school diploma or GED plus 10 years of relevant experience, an Associate's degree plus 8 years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree plus 2 years of relevant experience
\n\nDegree must be in a Business Field (for example, Program Management, Business Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, and Economics) or a Technical Field (for example, Engineering, Systems Management, Computer Science, and Information Technology).\n\nRelevant experience must include one or more of the following: business, finance, computer programming, or management information systems
Additionally, must have formal or informal leadership experience
As a Business Technologist, you will assist management (i.e., executives, managers, business analysts, and decision makers throughout the Agency) in a wide range of operational (day-to-day) and strategic business issues and actions to support decision-making by providing data, analytical tools and evaluation techniques/methods
Utilize state-of-the-art computer technologies to capture and model significant business processes and evaluate business practices
This work will be accomplished in coordination with teams of managers, data stewards, process partners, and customers to facilitate the delivery of the business intelligence necessary to guide the Agency toward strategic success
Use a variety of computer software tools including, but not limited to: Data Base Management Systems (DBMS), On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP), Data Mining, Report Generation, Data Transformation, and modeling
Well versed in utilizing performance measurement techniques, economic analysis, data warehousing, managerial cost accounting, business modeling and financial reporting
\n\nBusiness Technologist day-to-day responsibilities include:\n- Employing some combination (2 or more) of analysis, computer science, mathematics, and software engineering skills to devise strategies for extracting meaning and value from large datasets
\n- Through analytic modeling, scripting, and/or programming, develop and implement qualitative and quantitative methods for characterizing large datasets in various states of organization, cleanliness and structure
\n- Reviewing the nature and quality of cost data sources and evaluate their relevance to analyses; recommending action for improvement and use of sources.\n- Translating practical mission needs and analytic questions related to large datasets into technical requirements and, conversely, assist others with drawing appropriate conclusions from the analysis of such data
\n- Effectively communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences through varied visualization and presentation methods
\n- Design analytic tables, reports and dashboards using business intelligence tools and platforms
