Buyer-1 - Richmond University Medical Center

As a Supply Chain Buyer, your mission is to optimize procurement processes, foster supplier relationships, and ensure the efficient delivery of high-quality products at competitive prices. You’ll also provide exceptional customer service to hospital departments. Responsibilities

• Review Purchase Requisitions:
  • Evaluate requisitions for item quantities and specifications.
  • Prioritize urgent medical and patient care-related orders.
  • Conduct research on product availability, alternative suppliers, and value analysis.
• Supplier Interaction:
  • Meet with vendor sales representatives to discuss new products and negotiate pricing.
  • Obtain competitive bids when necessary.
  • Negotiate price, purchase terms, and equipment life cycle costs.
• Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Prepare cost analysis reports using Excel, detailing cost of goods, potential rebates, and discounting levels.
  • Collaborate with department heads to recommend alternatives for requested products.
  • Expedite orders affected by vendor backorders, credit holds, or emergencies.
• Process Compliance:
  • Ensure purchase requisitions comply with financial protocols before committing to vendors.
  • Support supply chain initiatives and understand inventory management and accounts payable operations.

Required Qualifications

• Work Experience:
  • Relevant experience in procurement or supply chain management.
• Skills & Experience:
  • Proficiency in using hospital ERP systems.
  • Data analysis skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

• Negotiation Skills:
  • Ability to negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers.
  • Effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Communication:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Demands

• Lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects (up to 10 pounds occasionally).
• Sedentary work (remaining stationary most of the time).

Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000
