Job Description:
Sullivan-Palatek is experiencing rapid growth and has an immediate opening in our Purchasing Department for a Buyer/Analyst.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilizing ERP generated purchase suggestions, analyze/evaluate quantity required, cost, specifications, and delivery requirements.
- Consolidate supplier requirements to determine most suitable method of purchase such as individual purchase orders, blanket or multiple release orders, supplier stocking or contracted supplier service arrangements (VMI).
- Select Supplier and enter/monitor/maintain integrity of purchase orders.
- Evaluate/audit suppliers through methods such as supplier visitations and various objective performance measurements (scorecard) including on-time delivery, service and warranty performance, and value assessment. Certify/approve as necessary.
- Develop alternate sources, ensuring continuity of supply, consistency of quality, and competitive value (to include soft-cost adders such as tariffs, surcharges, transport).
- Intermediary between supplier and the company for matters related to Quality/Product Support (RMA-returned material) and/or Accounting regarding invoicing/costing issues.
- Some travel required.
Qualifications:
Build/maintain effective Supplier relationships using interpersonal and influencing skills.
Adequate understanding of Logistics/Transportation and International Trade.
Assertive – self-motivated – confident.
Engages interest and participation of others - collaborative approach.
Analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem-solving abilities.
Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Teams.
ERP/MRP software experience in a Manufacturing Setting.
Ability to interpret Engineering drawings and Bill of Material structure.
Degree in business, economics, supply chain or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
Systems Experience:
- MS Excel, MS Office, MS Outlook: minimum 1 year (Required): 2 years (Preferred)
- ERP/MRP software experience in a Manufacturing Setting: 2 years (Preferred)
- Industry standard purchase order software platforms: 2 years (Required)
