Overview:
Assumes overall responsibility for the management of the WHRC retail and marketing operations. Coordinates designated support functions to include task management, project execution, and compilation of reports to ensure efficient and effective operations of the department.
Responsibilities:- Directs the buying process, including selecting merchandise to be ordered as inventory, choosing products that will sell in sufficient quantity and at sufficient margin to be profitable, maintaining optimal relationships with vendor representatives, negotiating pricing agreements and contracts, and monitoring and generate retail reports for compliance and sales trends.
- Manages the activities of the stockroom. Develops and implements effective and accurate inventory control programs. Resolves receiving and invoicing discrepancies.
- Acts as the departmental computer liaison with POS (Point of Sale) software vendor. Maintains ongoing awareness of changes in the system, provides continuous updates, and staffs training regarding the system.
- Manages, maintains, and updates all software data management programs for retail, library, and mailing list. Guide patrons in library use and resources.
- Identifies community services and outreach opportunities in an effort to build WHRC awareness. Investigates the viability of new programs and services. Collaborates with staff to implement these activities.
- Collects and disseminates accurate fiscal data and other pertinent account information to monitor the budget accounts of the WHRC. Maintains records to provide recommendations on budget matters. Assists with the preparation of the program budget.
- Prepares and forwards billing sheets to data entry for appropriate WHRC services. Monitors follow-up to ensure the optimal fiscal outcome of the charges.
- Identifies future revenue generating possibilities and corresponds with interdepartmental entities that will assist with the execution of these activities.
- Administers daily opening, sales, and cashing out procedures. Coordinates operational procedures between WHRC and other departments within the organization. Prepares reports including class participation and obstetrical patient count.
- Develops office procedures to register participants, mail confirmation letters, and process payments for all classes.
- Acts as editorial assistant in the production of the WHRC’s newsletter and leads the distribution process of the WHRC newsletter from the designing phase to the mail house.
- Coordinates WHRC marketing and advertising with D-H Public Affairs and Marketing.
- Responds to inquiries received by telephone, mail, or in person. Triages telephone calls by determining the urgency and nature of requests and taking appropriate action.
- Performs Child Passenger Safety Education for community organizations and caregivers regarding the proper use and laws pertaining to Child Passenger Safety.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement and service excellence activities.
- Attends safety training in compliance with OSHA and JC requirements, and identifying actual and potential hazards and reporting them to the appropriate source.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field with 2 years of experience in Buyer position, or the equivalent in education and experience required.
- The ability to supervise and manage office and retail operations required.
- Excellent communication skills desired. PC experience, including spreadsheet, database management and word processing experience required.
