Buyer Summary: The Buyer is responsible for purchasing material / services and assuring material availability as well as healthy inventory turns. Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity are the priorities in the supply chain. Additionally, the ability to optimize vendor relationships is valued. Appropriate RFQ’s and cost negotiation are required. The buyer also needs to maintain the planning data for assigned vendors and part #’s in the system. Expect a fast-paced environment and fact-based results are required.
Buyer Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Follow the weekly / bi-weekly purchasing schedule and order cadence.
- Plan and execute purchase orders, assure materials to operations.
- Reschedules purchase orders as required by mix, schedule, and other changes; Expedite and Push-out or reschedule regularly.
- Escalate to purchasing and company management to assure supply following guidelines and processes.
- Monitors and expedites deliveries on assigned class or commodity groups.
- Supervise a group of suppliers and secure targeted inventory turns.
- Work with internal customers to understand business requirements and ensure compliance with company’s procurement policies.
- Analyze and evaluate quotations to recommend and implement cost negation strategies while assuring compliance within bid requirements.
- Prepare facts and supporting documentation throughout the procurement process.
- Resolve invoicing or receipt discrepancies.
- Assist other procurement staff with identified projects and programs as needed.
Buyer Required Education, Knowledge & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, may elect to consider applicants with equivalent 2 to 5 Years experience and/or a combination of experience/training/education in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a directly related procurement, purchasing or supply chain.
- Technical skills a plus; aluminum or steel parts and well as industrial assemblies
- Experience holding vendors accountable.
- Working knowledge and a thorough understanding of procurement processes and alternative replenishment methods
- Effective priority and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Previous experience and/or proficiency in using ERP systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and balance multiple priorities.
- Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels throughout an organization internally and external to the company (i.e. - vendors).
- Ability to work independently and within a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to research, analyze data, and present fact-based conclusions.
Buyer Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to routinely sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear, use hands and fingers to keyboard, turn handles, feel, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, crawl, reach, and stretch.
- The employee occasionally moves around the office and enters the manufacturing areas.
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing work environment that has frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, noise intensity level, proximity to moving mechanical parts and exposure to weather. Light to Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, printers, light traffic, and manufacturing noise from adjoining wall plant)
Ability to sit at a computer station for an extended period.

Compensation details: 55000-65000 Yearly Salary
