About the Job
Americhem International, PA’s leading distributor of janitorial and office supplies, is currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Buyer to join its team. This individual will support the company’s Purchasing team by ensuring that we have the inventory we need to be our customers’ “most trusted partner in clean!”
Please note - this position is based in Middletown, PA and requires working in the office.

Job Overview:
The Buyer is a driven and detail-oriented team member who is responsible for selecting and purchasing products for our business. The Buyer’s responsibilities will include processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, maintaining inventory, quality assurance and liaising with inside team members, management and suppliers. The Buyer will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchasing decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Create & monitor purchase orders, communicate statuses and ensure timely delivery.
- Proactively identify supply chain disruptions and work to minimize delays.
- Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing & terms.
- Resolve billing and shipping issues with suppliers and freight carriers.
- Maintain inventory to ensure that stock is kept at appropriate levels.
- Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
- Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
To be considered, applicants must possess at least two years in a procurement role; a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or related field is preferred. In addition, interested applicants should also possess:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledgeable of computer software & technology.
- Ability to analyze & compile information, then make educated decisions.
- Ability to work with changing demands and timelines.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with ERP systems preferred.
